The most popular social media networking website FaceBook seems to never stop in shopping spree as they have recently bought few of new things, when I say new things I mean company as most of you know that FaceBook recently bought WhatsApp for $19 billion dollars but before buying WhatsApp they bought Instagram for $1 billion dollars which in my opinion that it’s a steal considering Instagram is one of the most popular photo sharing apps. In very recent they have bought a company called Oculus for their Oculus VR products for $2 billion dollars that supposedly to take the technology to a new level and if you don’t know Oculus, Oculus VR is almost Google Glass but in different way. A lot of money for new items that FaceBook bought right?!
WAIT! There is more for Facebook.
The question is that is it all? Holy smokey, no! They just bought a new Finnish firm that produces a fitness tracking app that uses smartphone’s built-in sensors to track activity and to burn some calories.
I know the next question you have for me would be “how much did they pay for that thing?” and the answer would be unknown. FaceBook wouldn’t show how much they paid for the app called PhotoGeo which is the name of Finnish firm that FaceBook had just bought and the source said that they only have at least 10 employees but said that FaceBook has paid very high price for the firm of course as they have been shopping anything that has very expensive price tag on them but it is unbelievable to think about the money they offers to pay new things especially for some apps such as WhatsApp which is messaging service and the most popular photos sharing app Instagram. While it is the price for Instagram is reasonable but what shocks me is paying 18 more billion dollars for a messaging service app such as WhatsApp that’s not quite popular as Instagram but WhatsApp is popular too especially overseas as it aims that way but Instagram is popular in America and few nations and that costs less than WhatsApp? It don’t make sense but whatever floats their boat right?!
The source: BBC News – FaceBook buys fitness app firm.
With all the new items that FaceBook has bought so far has everyone including myself scratching our heads wondering what is FaceBook buying next? Whatever it is I am almost sure that it’s going to be another expensive price tag as usual. I forgot to include one thing that FaceBook was wanting to acquire something that is supposedly to send drones out in sky to helps more people to be able to get internet service because Facebook has shopped for something to try to get more people to have the internet service so obviously that would means more members on Facebook and other companies that FaceBook has bought but the drones they were looking into is called Titan Aerospace and they wanted to acquire the company but the problem is that either they waited too long to acquire it or someone else offered higher price tag and acquired Titan Aerospace company and who that acquired Titan Aerospace would be the one and only Google.
Truthfully I think it’s more sense that Google acquired Titan Aerospace instead of FaceBook because Google is all about online and the internet while Facebook is all about social media and connections (relationship and friendship). Google probably have better idea what to do with Titan Aerospace than Facebook had planned on using them for which is to connect the entire world online through internet and that’s same plan with Google except Google knows more about what to do with them or how to go about them. I am looking forward to what Google is going to do with Titan Aerospace and I am looking forward to what next Facebook is going to buy because with all of things that Facebook buys makes everyone curious about what is the next thing they are wanting to shop for – Flying cars? I wonder but I am sure it’s not the next item or firm they are shopping for.
