Joshie is back, blogging again and not only just that but also has redesigned the website! I know I haven’t properly written a blog post in a very long time, for many reasons that I rather keep it private, along with the holidays which usually when the people get busy especially during the Christmas time to shop for the presents and getting ready for the New Year Eve or New Year. For several months I have been struggling to find some free time to blog, not just blog but also to maintain several other websites and try to keep up with a few projects that I have going so it has been a hectic time for me lately, so I barely have any time for anything. Since that Christmas is done, New Year is done and now this is the time when people usually either relax or go back to work but, in my case, it is when the time that I relax which is why I can find the time to write this blog post. There are a lot of things that I would like to share on several different topics.

1-2019 Snippets

So, let me start off with some of topics that I would like to share and to give you something to talk about by leaving comments below or write your own blog post and have it trackback to this article which will be a response or to be related to this article so feel free to either leave a comment or write a blog post of your own and trackback to this article using the address of this blog post which I will review them to approve so that others can read them too.

Dude, You Are Slow!

I know, I know I have been very slow when it comes to writing a blog post lately as it appears that I have not written anything in several months except for announcements or a quick personal note (such as wishing a happy holiday). As I said above, I have been very busy with trying to get everything in place for the Christmas such as doing some shopping and then making sure that they arrived here in time before Christmas and then have them wrapped up to be put under a Christmas tree in the living room so it was a bit of hassle as I am not good when it comes to trying to find presents or wrapping some presents. This year for Christmas is a bit different than before because this year for Christmas I only get to celebrate Christmas with my mother which is always joyful for me as we both always celebrate but the difference is that this one that we both were more alone than ever. Although I did have a few family members on my father’s side visiting me before Christmas for Christmas such as my father, my uncle, my grandmother and my cousin. After that, I and my mother celebrated New Year but this time with someone else in the house so that is at least one positive side to this holiday’s year. Now that Christmas, New Year is done, and it isn’t even finished – my mother has a birthday on the 7th. So, imagine three holidays within’ each week, a Christmas then a week later it is New Year and now one week later it’s my mother’s birthday which is tomorrow so obviously I have been busy. Not only that, for the past months before the holidays I wasn’t motivated much to blog and I struggle badly to try to find a way to motivate myself back to blog more so I have been trying to find some ways to motivate me because I spend more money for the websites (over 30 domains and server) than I get in return so I have a loss in revenue but that is fine by me because it is one of my passions even if I am not motivated by it anymore but I am finding myself motivated again so that is a good thing. So, for my terdies and keeping all of you in dark for so long I apologize about that, but I hope that all of you understand or at least forgive me for that.

My Holidays

I have a pretty good Christmas this year, although it was a bit different than previous Christmases because there is one family member in the household who decided to not get any presents or give any presents to anyone for the first time and avoided to be in the house when me and my mother unwraps the presents in the morning but even with that we continued the Christmas spirit ourselves so that’s what makes it all good. We decided to unwrap the presents around 8 o’clock in the morning, I woke up at about 10 PM and stayed up for the rest of the night and on Christmas day but my mother had a bit of sleep. We both got ourselves good presents, I got the things that I wanted, and I will try to share a picture of the presents that I have received. I got my mother KitchenAid pink 6QT bowl mixer, KitchenAid Hand Mixer, a personalized big jewelry box, a personalized kitchen apron with her name, a seat covers for her new SUV that she brought this year, a charm for her Pandora bracelet that I brought a couple years ago as I have been buying a charm every holiday for the bracelet, a personalized cutting board and a few more of other things. As for me, I got new iPad Pro generation 3, Hermes (or Hermes Paris) Fauve Barenia 44mm band for my new Apple Watch 4 series that I brought when it came out in September this year, keyboard for the new iPad Pro, an Apple Pen generation 2 for the iPad Pro, GoPro Hero 7 Black edition, some iTunes, some cash and few more of other things including candies in socking. The new year of 2019, I really didn’t celebrate much as I slept half of the day because I was up for the most of time on the New Year Eve and my sleep schedules are wacky already as it is but it was decent though as we watched the ball to drop in New York City on television with all of the family members in the household. Just one week later after New Year, it was my mother’s birthday, so she got a bunch of gifts (at least in term of values) altogether from Christmas and her birthday so that is lucky for her. My birthday is three months apart from Christmas so plenty of time!

Wall, Wall, and Wall!

I am seeing some of the people posting some memes and other things saying that we need a wall at the southern border. I cringe, there is a reason for that – I wonder if people even acknowledge statistics before going around saying we need a wall? Anyway, I am one of many Americans who disagrees that we need a physical barrier for the south border because in my opinion that it is a waste of taxpayer’s money and not only that it is nonsense in every way. Because in term of security for here in the United States isn’t in much of need for a physical barrier, no and what we do actually need is technology means. Before you start throwing words at me saying that technology gadgets and whatnot don’t do any good – hold your horse! To save both of our times, I am only going to leave something here for you to ponder on. Do you have an idea of how many attempted terrorists we had at the southern border? 6. No, really – a single digit. Six. Now, how many were there terrorists that have attempted to come into our country by air? Around in 2017. No, I am not kidding you. That is just me doing a quick research, but to make it even worse for the Republicans or Trump supporters to hear this – in 2017, the government has found no evidence in terrorists coming in from Mexico whatsoever! You can find the link about that on a government page (not news, government page): https://www.state.gov/j/ct/rls/crt/2017/282846.htm#MEXICO

So, do we really want to throw the taxpayers money at the wall when it is really doing nothing? If the wall does happen, practically the taxpayers just pay for the wall to be looked at and nothing else more. What we really do need is to invest in advanced technology to curb the terrorists and illegals coming in by air because that is where the security is most concerned for the United States. The reason that Trump administration stands very firm on demanding a wall and caused the government shutdown is that it is one of the other promises that President Trump has made during his presidential campaign. He empathizes the “wall” so many times that it burnt into people’s mind and for that Trump knew that if he didn’t do good on that promise that he would lessen his chance of being re-elected in 2020. This isn’t just only the reason, as there is another reason that is going on around. People are suspecting that the reason that they are pushing the wall idea is that it’s to make wealthy people wealthier by giving them money to build the walls and that sounds plausible but let that ponders in your mind!

Dropping Support for Microsoft’s Apps like Flies!

The companies who have applications, such as Facebook, Instagram, Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, Spotify, Snapchat and many more but you get the idea what I mean, they are dropping their support for Microsoft’s Apps like flies! A few years ago, when Microsoft first built the new upgraded operating software for all of Windows computers whether it be desktop or laptops, they try so hard to compete with Macs with the apps store and unfortunately a few years later it backfired because recently I had to contact support at Hulu about some error for their Hulu’s app on Windows Apps store. The problem was that their closed caption/subtitle covers the half of the screen, this never happens before until recently Microsoft made a new update to the Windows 10 and that fizzed Hulu’s app enough to where the closed captions/subtitle covers up half of the screen, so I contacted Hulu’s support about this issue. Hulu told me to remove their app from my windows devices, so I asked why they said that they are along with many of other companies are phasing out of apps for Windows and suggested us to use their web-based one to watch some movies or television shows on their libraries. So, I decided to do quick research and I came across to some saying that Microsoft has been having a hard time to convince the companies or developers to put their apps on the Windows Apps Store. This is actually unfortunate but to be honest with you, I am not surprised by that at all because they failed to capture the cell phone’s market and this can be discouraging for the companies or developers to just develop the apps for Windows computers as they hoped that it would be used for their phones the most since that is where all the money is as a lot of people are no longer using computers.

Using Stickers, Effects and Filters on Pictures Equals Yuck!

Seriously, how can anyone think that putting stickers, filters, effects and whatever else there is on their pictures looks cool? They aren’t at all. What gets on my nerves, even more, is some people would just upload some pictures with quotes on Instagram and other social photos services – like, really! For Facebook, I don’t really care about that kind of things but for the photos sharing services that are where cross the line because they are intended for people who like taking pictures and videos. But that is just me, although no one will ever get my like on them that is for sure!

Where Are You DSTidbits?

Deaf community was just started knowing about a blog named DSTidbits, I have learned about it through Ricky Taylor aka Ridor9th and I keeps my eyes on it hoping that it would become successful blog because we need more Deaf bloggers. Back in the days there were a lot of Deaf bloggers including myself, as I started in 2007 but I was hardly known in Deaf bloggers world though and I started seeing a lot of Deaf people stopped blogging which was a bit disappointing to see because they were becoming one of a few good platforms for the Deaf community to deliver their messages out. Now there are only a very few remaining ones, such as me, Rikki Poynter and a few more. Hopefully one day it will come back so that way we would be able to help each other out! I encourage it which is why I was a bit disappointed to see DSTidbits abandoned and I would love to know what happened or why so if anyone of you know please tell me by either leaving a comment below, contact me using the contact page which can be found at top of the website or message me on JoshiesWorld’s Facebook!

Also, if you are a Deaf blogger, let me know as well!

Edit: Good news, DSTidbits are still going! They have changed from a domain name to a subdomain. You can find their facebook page here: DSTidbits News.

My Blog Was Submitted to IMDb As A Reviewer

I was surprised to discover that my blog was accepted as a reviewer for IMDb if you remember one of my articles about Van Helsing and Deaf Talents, that article was what gotten my blog submitted as one of the reviewers on IMDb. You can see that article I wrote here on Van Helsing’s IMDb page, that is something for me to see especially having it submitted as a legitimate reviewer at IMDb and I am looking forward to writing more reviews on movies or television shows so that gives me something to do which is to watch some shows or movies more often so I can write a review on them!

New Outlook and New Goals For JoshiesWorld

By now I am sure that you have noticed that JoshiesWorld has a new look, especially if you have been to JoshiesWorld.com before and that is about time that it has a new look. I know on social media, there were a few times that I have said I am working on a new look for JoshiesWorld and ended up did not. I have been working on the new look for a few months, it wasn’t just the coding but also making sure that there were no errors and making sure that it’s for sure ready for the public. I have been working on it for a few months, last month I was close to completing the design but didn’t make it public because I worried that if I went ahead and release it to the public that there would be some errors pops up or whatever then I would have no choice but rush into everything which can be very time consuming. After I completed the new look, I then had to make sure that the advertisements were working properly and are in the right place because it is the only source of revenue I have coming in which comes nowhere close to pay for JoshiesWorld in monthly payments but it does help me to offset at least a few dollars off it. I think in total, since from the beginning of the JoshiesWorld to today would probably worth a new vehicle by now and that is coming straight out of my pocket as the revenue from advertisements or sponsors didn’t even cover 1/3 of that. I am sure you wonder that since it takes most of the money out of my pocket and not making anything to covers it then why would I still run JoshiesWorld for more than a decade now? Only thing I can tell you is that it is because it is one of my passion and it is one of the main platforms that I use to deliver my message out to the audience. I can remember paying about $8.99 a year for a domain back in the 2000s but now they are like $40 a year and this isn’t the only one domain that I have as I have several ones with TLDS (.net, .info, .name, .blog, .biz etc.) under JoshiesWorld.com but that isn’t the only one I have but also many of other different domains that I own. Then there is a server, that is where it gets more even expensive because it can run you down over a thousand per month or a few hundred depending on how many domains you run and how big are they. I am not talking about a shared hosting, I am talking about dedicated server which is a bit different and is more in my control which just the way I like. Nonetheless, I hope you like the new look as my goals for the new look before it was completed was that it has to be more simple, easier to navigate and more accessible for the people who have vision problems which is why you see the visual accessibility feature on left side of the website (larger text or contrast). If you have come across any problem with this website, please let me know by giving me a holler through the contact page so I can be aware of it and solve whatever the problem is.

My goals for the JoshiesWorld is to be more active than I have been in the past several months. I know I haven’t blogged much last year, my life was on and still is on a rollercoaster so I am trying to get a grip on it as best as I can but I am working on to be more active so that I can at least try to keep on delivering some contents for all of you to read or watch. In the way of business, I am looking for a way to grow JoshiesWorld as an identifiable brand and hope to make this blog more recognized or at least more people to be aware of JoshiesWorld. You all are a big part of the growth since the beginning to today, I am going for bigger and I truly thank all of you so much for helping JoshiesWorld to grow by sharing the words around about it! Keep that going would you please?!

Deaf Drive-Thru Discriminations

Lately, we are seeing the discrimination on the Deaf customers through the drive-thru at different fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s, Taco Bell and the most recent Dunkin’ Donuts. I have made a wall post on Facebook and Twitter saying that there was a paper taped on the window where it said that the Deaf customers weren’t allowed to use the drive-thru or about Deaf customers weren’t being allowed to be served at all – I must correct myself on that by saying that there is no proof of the sign where it said that the Deaf customers are not allowed. Someone who is Deaf on Facebook made a vlog talking about a paper that is posted at the door or window where it says that the Deaf customers are not being allowed, then shared some photographs of them and it was almost believable until I take a closer look only to realize that they were photoshopped. However, the story about a worker at Dunkin’s Donuts (or was it Taco Bell?) refused to serve a Deaf customer is true as there was a Deaf man named Dylan (can’t remember the last name) who drove to the window at Dunkin’ Donuts or Taco Bell to order something and there was a worker at the window refused to serve or take his order while at the same time profusely nodding his head (saying no) to the Deaf customer then called the police on the Deaf customer as the Deaf customer struggled to get the worker to take his order. Then there was someone else, named Mary Patricia McAlevy who made a vlog saying that she called Dunkin’ Donuts to verify everything that was going on between the Deaf customer and the worker who refused to serve the Deaf customer. As Mary called, she said that Dunkin’ Donuts or Taco Bell told her that the video that we saw where the worker at Dunkin’ Donuts or Taco Bell discriminate the Deaf customer by denying to serve wasn’t true as she said that Dunkin’ Donuts or Taco Bell says that the worker tried to help the Deaf customer by asking the Deaf customer to come inside from front door so that they could get more clearer in communication between both and to make sure that the Deaf customer gets the order right instead of making a mistake in Dylan’s order. At that drive-thru action between the Deaf customer (Dylan) and the worker at Dunkin’ Donuts or Taco Bell happened after the police arrived there as Mary says. There are two thoughts that I have on this, one is that Dylan has every right to stay at the drive-thru to order whatever it is that he wants, even if the worker feels that there is “communication barrier” with the Deaf customer and both were communicating through Dylan’s cell phone so how can it be difficult or a communication barrier? I mean, can you understand this for an example – I want two glazed donuts with medium coffee and two teaspoons of milk? Second, my thought is that of course, Dunkin’ Donuts or Taco Bell will tell Mary stuff like that to defend themselves by lying to make themselves looks good and make the Deaf customer look bad. I mean, what you expect? Dunkin’ Donuts or others won’t be going to tell you that they did discriminate the Deaf customer or didn’t do what it was shown in the video that Dylan took. You can’t expect that Dunkin’ Donuts or other places will verify that they did something wrong – they want to try to make themselves look good.

I am wrong, there isn’t second thoughts but a third one as I just thought of something else about this. If Dunkin’ Donuts or Taco Bell side of the story is true, then that’s a shame. Nonetheless, audism is everywhere and that is a problem.

Microsoft Announced A New Feature for Skype

Microsoft has made an announcement recently that they have released a new feature that allows the Deaf and Hard of Hearing people to use Skype more conveniently as Microsoft added closed captions for Skype where a Deaf or Hard of Hearing person can use Skype and do a video call with a hearing person where the Deaf or Hard of Hearing user will be able to get captions of what the hearing users are saying with automatic captions via their A.I. Here’s a link about it here, if you have Skype you can find it in the setting and have it enabled then you will be able to use the closed captions feature which is very useful especially that most of the media (journalists, reporters etc.), government, corporations, and business uses.

Packers Hired A New Head Coach

If you haven’t heard or seen anything on television about Green Bay Packers on head coach, a month back in December Green Bay Packers have decided to fire a long-time head coach of the Green Bay Packers, Mike McCarthy who helmed the team as head coach for 12 years and who have took the team Packers to Superbowl almost every year as Packers keep on winning the conferences every month for many years since Mike McCarthy became the head coach for the Green Bay Packers. This season of 2018-2019, the team Green Bay Packers suddenly became a different team and even with one of the best quarterbacks in the league they barely win any games. Only the time that Green Bay Packers have a good chance of winning is at home but when they are away, they lose almost every away games and some at home so it was so bad that the officials of Green Bay Packers decided that it was enough so they fired the head coach Mike McCarthy while Green Bay Packers is still in the season. Packers only had 3 or 4 more games to go when they fired Mike McCarthy, it wouldn’t make any difference if they hadn’t because with him they would continue to lose every game for the rest of the season and when they fired Mike McCarthy they decided to give the interim head coach position to Joe Philbin who was a head coach at Miami Dolphins before the Packers brought him back to the Green Bay Packers as the offensive coordinator in 2018 in the same year they fired Mike McCarthy later in the season. Since that the season for Green Bay Packers is over, Green Bay Packers immediately started a search for the new head coach and picked five to interview I believe but out of no where they found another guy that wasn’t in that five potential head coaches to interview and it was like as if they met at first love sign as they wanted to hire him right away but the president of Green Bay Packers Mark Murphy told the officials to sleep on it first because he wanted to make sure that he is the one that they still want to be the new head coach for the Green Bay Packers next day. Sure enough, the next day they still wanted him and decided to hire the new head coach for the Green Bay Packers so the new head coach for the Green Bay Packers is Matt LaFluer.

Whose Matt LaFluer, is he good catch? Somewhat no. In my opinion, Green Bay Packers officials jumped too fast as the President of Green Bay Packers Mark Murphy concerned that day when he told them to sleep on it first. I can see the concern that Mark Murphy has, I am sure he still does, and he just went ahead with hiring Matt LaFluer because it is what most of the officials in that rank wanted. I am sure that the President of Green Bay Packers Mark Murphy will not speak his concerns so to not make this whole thing looks bad or to worry the fans but my concerns with Matt LaFluer is that he has no experience as a head coach, the most skill that Matt LaFluer has is coaching a quarterback as he was a quarterback coach for Washington Redskins for three years, then became a quarterback coach for a university named Notre Dame for a year and then went back to the professional football league with Atlanta Falcons as a quarterback coach for two years. Then became an offensive coordinator for Los Angeles Rams in 2017 and in 2018 he went to Tennessee Titans as an offensive coordinator too before he became the new head coach for Green Bay Packers. So, in other words, Matt Lafluer is good as a quarterback coach but not at the caliber as Green Bay Packers because the teams that he coached for is nowhere close to the caliber that Green Bay Packers is in. Now that Matt LaFluer apparently got luck to become a head coach for that such caliber which that means the expectation is very high and that is where the concern is – will he be able to handle it? Because as a long-time fan of Green Bay Packers, I would hope that Green Bay Packers doesn’t go from one of the top NFL teams to the bottom of the NFL teams like Tennessee Titans that he was a coach of before got hired as the new head coach for Green Bay Packers.

I hope nothing but the best for him, of course, but with that Green Bay Packers got one of the best quarterbacks in this generation since Brett Favre and I hope that they will not waste Aaron Rodger’s era. Mike McCarthy got him one Superbowl ring and many conference championships or many playoffs, so I hope that Matt LaFluer recognizes that he’s got one of the biggest NFL fans on his shoulders expecting him to do as good as Mike McCarthy a few years ago or better.

Immigrants Are Safer Than Natives

I am sure that you chuckle, especially if you are Republicans reading this part of the blog post but before you quickly dismiss this topic and read this out. Now, immigrants who entered the Texas, United States are safer than the natives in the Texas, United States when it comes to crimes. Yes, natives do crime more than the immigrants which I am sure that this is shocking to some of you but to some of us it isn’t because we do actual research and at any time I write an article or blog post with something like this I will always make sure that I have the source to back it up.

Here’s the picture that I would like to share with you, a graph to give you an idea of the difference in crimes between both immigrants and the natives in Texas, the United States of the year 2018.

Now, what do you see? 1,797 every 100,000 natives are convicted of a crime(s), 899 every 100,000 illegal immigrants are convicted of a crime(s), 719 every 100,000 all immigrants are convicted of a crime(s) and 611 every 100,000 legal immigrants are convicted of a crime(s). It showed that the fact that the natives of Texas do crimes more than immigrants will ever do so that says one thing and that is they are safer than the people in Texas. So, essentially to have a physical wall border is more than unnecessary and pointless. Even that the immigrants are safer than the people in Texas, more reason that the border is unnecessary is that there were only 6 terrorists caught at the south border and over 4,000 terrorists caught coming in from the air. Again, more pointless and unnecessary to have the wall that the Republicans wants so bad. No need to do anything at the border but do something more about air security.

Source on Immigrants Vs Natives in Texas: https://www.cato.org/publications/immigration-research-policy-brief/criminal-immigrants-texas-illegal-immigrant

Other thing, terrorists pose a very small threat to Americans. Here are the lifetime odds to give you an idea where illegal immigrants terrorists listed.

Snow, where Are Thou?!

We have only received a very small amount of snow here in eastern part of Kentucky or in the southeast part of West Virginia, some of you know me knows that I love cold winter and several inches or even feet in snows on the days that we have no important appointments or anything that we must attend. There are many weather services are saying that in February we would be in well below average for the winter, that is a hopeful and different than last year or past a few years ago up to the year of 2012 because every year the weather services said that we would either have above average or equal average but this year the weather services are saying it would be below average so if it’s the indication we should be seeing some good amounts of snow. We hadn’t had a white Christmas for decades, we never had one this year and we have not had one ever since the year of 1994 I believe which was when a blizzard came. We might average a good low 30s degree on good nights, rarely upper 20s but this weekend will be different because the weather service are alerting us that we would be getting snow and that it will be in 7 degree which is far-fetched even for eastern Kentucky so it’s going to be a refreshing night for me as we hadn’t experienced this cold for several years or more so decades.

As for my readers from the east part of Kentucky and southeast part of West Virginia please be cautious. Be sure that you have enough of everything, that you won’t need to drive for anything such as foods or drinks and as well kerosene for the heaters if you have them unless you have an electric heater then you are good to go. When I say to be sure that you have everything prepared for the weekend cold, I don’t mean go crazy and empty out the bread or milk aisles – seriously! The other day we were getting a warning from the weather service saying that the road would be very slippery and icy, our stores look so empty then the next day we didn’t get anything. The best thing to prepare yourselves on how much foods you need to get is to look the weather service online because it’s more accurate than you see on television as it pinpoints which brings more accuracy than you would get from television because the weather on television only gives you information in a bigger area. For example, the weather on television would say that we will be getting 9 degrees this Sunday but the weather service over the internet says that in this area we would be in 7 degrees. The place that is about 3 up to 5 miles away from here has gotten snow while we didn’t get any over here so that is why if you want as accurate as you can for the weather you check it online using the search to pinpoint your location. As for apps, I highly recommend Weather Channel which costs nothing but for the paid one I highly recommend Carrot which costs $4.99 I believe and then becomes an ultrapremium member which gets you even better data which costs almost $10 a year.

Google Lens

Google has added a great feature to its app, Google App which can be found on both iOS and Android stores. The new feature for Google’s app is called Google Lens, it uses your smartphone or tablet’s camera where you can point the camera at anything that you aren’t sure of or not being able to identify what it is and it will scan the object you would like to identify then from there it will show you one or more than one dots where Google was able to identify so you click whichever in the screen that you would like to know then it will pop up telling you what they are. Great for identifying fruits, flowers, vegetables, foods, some dog or cat breeds, vehicles, text on something and many more. I highly recommend you to download the app and then you will see an icon beside a microphone which I will show you a screenshot with a poorly drawn arrow to point out where it is at so you can use the feature to play with it by pointing at something to help you to identify something. Great job, Google!

For iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/google/id284815942?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4
For Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.ar.lens&referrer=utm_source%3Dlanding%26utm_medium%3Ddownload

… And the End!

This is where I must hibernate down and call it a day. I hope there are at least a couple of topics that are interesting for you to read. So, you know, there is a page called “submit” which can be found at top of the website under a menu where you will be able to suggest any topics that you would like to hear my opinions, views, reviews, and whatnot. The submit page isn’t just used only for that but also for you to submit some story, hot tips or whatnot that you would like for me to know and from there I will investigate on it so I can spread it around on here for everyone to know as it depends on if there are more than one of you sharing some information because I have a principle where I refuse to write about anything only based on one person or source as it would need more than one or a source to verify the story or tips themselves. Thank you so much for all your time reading and I hope all of you have a great day or night whichever it is over there!

Thank you,
