Relaunching A Photography Business

I had decided to relaunch a photography business of my own because I got a new camera that is a professional camera now as the last time when I launched the photography for the first time I only had an entry camera and a crop one, but now I have a full-frame professional camera with a good list of lenses to go with such as 24-70MM F/2.8 or others which normally cost around two thousand each popular lens or cheaper for a lens with higher f-stops which is decent but professional photographers like myself prefer low f-stops as possible for these certain focal. Not only that, when I first launched the photography business, I was still in the learning process. It would be better for me to temporarily put the photography business on hold, which ends up for a few years because a professional camera is not cheap. That cost does not stop there as it keeps on adding up with lenses, props, lighting system, materials, equipment, other gears, and more. Now I am set, so I decided to relaunch the photography business, this time, I know what I do, and I have what I need to be in a photography business, so I am looking forward to doing some photoshoot sessions. This is one of the few reasons that I have been swamped. I almost haven’t written an article or anything for about a month because I was heavily invested in relaunching the photography business. Building a new website for the photography, commissioning a designer to design a logo, started buying a few lenses that I feel is necessary, I also have been going to different places to take some pictures because I need a portfolio for potential clients to see or to share with everyone and others, so it consumed so much of my time away from journalist work but now that I have photography business set on auto so I can get back into journalist work while waiting for the opportunity on the photography side.

My photography business is called Joshie’s Photography. You can visit the website to look at a few of the pictures that I have taken so far by going to JoshiesPhotography.com. I also have a Facebook page for Joshie’s Photography which you can follow/like here. Still, website one will be a place where I will have most of the pictures.

Here’s the finally done logo; I commissioned this logo from the same designer who did the logo for JoshiesWorld a couple of years ago because I felt it is more meaningful for me to pick the same designer to create one for Joshie’s Photography.

Calvin Young

A few days ago, Calvin Young, who owns Seek The World who is somewhat well-known in the Deaf community, decided to return to social media after a few months of hiatus. On Facebook, on his page, you would see him trying to market his merchandising for his brand, posting some videos as well, and becoming active again on social media. As I said, he was on a few months hiatus because of what he did, which was selfish, sickening, immature, childish, and racist (by BIPOC). Because he posted a picture of himself as a black-faced back in 2011 at some party and left a comment saying that he was “Uncle Tom,” which is an outright offensive thing to say. When police officers murdered George Floyd, there was a huge protest by Black Lives Matter, and they were everywhere, which I think amazing because it was about the time that we as white people are to be put in our place for being racists for too long. When we started to see the Black Lives Matter movement everywhere, we as white people begin to get called out for our actions which we deserved to be so, and Calvin Young was one of them that got called out for what he did. His action that he was called out was that picture he posted back in 2011 of himself painting his face black, which is called black face, and then call himself an uncle Tom, which is an offensive thing for anyone to say, especially after having a face painted in black.

When Calvin Young of Seek The World was called out for his action, he immediately disappeared from social media and went in hiding and others, including Joey Barish of Deaf Nation. Now, ever since that happened a few months later, I guess that there is less protest/rally by Black Lives Matter that Calvin Young thought it is safe for him to come out of hiding. Hence, he came back to being active on social media, as you see him trying to market his stuff and posting a few videos on his Facebook. The problem is that when he decided to come back to be active again, he is pretending that he was never called out for his sickening action and that he is no longer accountable for that action of his. I think that is wrong on many levels; yes, he did make an apology video (pretentious one at that) when he was called out. Still, he then went in hiding immediately after that apology video as he said that he would do some unpacking and start listening to the BIPOC people, but how can he be if he has been in hiding past few months? He is hoping that he does not have to do that as it seems because when he appeared back on social media, the first thing he should have to do is try to think of a way to make up for his action even before thinking of a way to market his merchandising.

That is not the only problem because he also has another problem: he arrested a few months ago for family violence. Many Deaf people have said that he has laid hands on his girlfriend and some family members. His arrest information went viral on social media in the Deaf community; everyone knows that he was arrested for family domestic violence. Some of the Deaf people were sickened by it, including me. But here we have him being active once again on social media, pretending that these two problems never occurred during his hiatus on social media for a few months. Many of the Deaf people already forget about his family’s domestic violence arrest because it seems that many Deaf people are happy with Calvin Young being back on social media. I think that it’s wrong; people should hold him accountable for two things even to this day, especially to remind him that he is still held accountable for that picture of him with a black face and now his arrest due to assault causes bodily injury to a family member in Austin, Texas on 09/2/2020. On September 2nd, 2020, he was arrested, but it happened on August 10th, 2020 and then put a warrant on him on August 24, 2020. People should not let Calvin Young off that easy, especially after these two things that he did, because these two things are not something that we can just easily forget and move on. His brand “Seek The World” is already severely damaged, already in bad image thanks to his reputation, and now pretending that he did not do these two things are tarnishing his Seek The World brand even more. Don’t worry about how to market the merchandising stuff; worry about learning what you did wrong, and start looking for a way to do right by the BIPOC community while explaining your violence that you were arrested for. Stop pretending that nothing has happened; your brand Seek The World is already badly tarnished thanks to your reputation and if you want to do any damage control, then better start with doing the right thing which you are failing at so far as it would be the first thing that you did when you decided to come back on social media. No, don’t go back in hiding and become inactive once again because everyone now has seen you back on social media, so hiding again, it would make everything worse. The BIPOC community does not deserve this, and you came back pretending as if nothing happened and if you want to do the right thing by the Deaf community, explain your violent situation. Shame on you, Calvin Young, and you sicken me.

Disclaimer: I am a white person; the BIPOC community is the ones that can only accept or reject his apology and decide what he should do about that black-face picture of him while calling himself the Uncle T. Those of you who are white people in the Deaf community seems to be quick to forgive Calvin Young by leaving several comments approving his apology or his behavior – stop! It is not our place as white people. It is entirely up to BIPOC people to do what they may with Calvin Young about what he did. We, as white people, have said our “shame on you!” including me, so now, however, it is solved or not solved, it is up to BIPOC people!

Edit: Ricky Taylor, aka Ridor (blogger/vlogger), has beaten me to it even though that this article is being published much later. So, I am not the only one who recognizes this.

Derek Chauvin Is Found Guilty

Derek Chauvin, who murdered George Floyd on May 25 in 2020, in doing so sparked one of the largest protests in America’s history by Black Lives Matter, and it was overdue because many of us white people have been doing many wrong things to BIPOC (black, ingenious, people of color) community for centuries. When a sick-minded police officer murdered George Floyd, it was the last straw that plucked it, and in doing so, they had enough of it, especially for all of what our ancestors now did to them. When I saw that Derek Chauvin was found guilty on three charges which were second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter, I immediately started thinking that I hope that his family at least feel that it was an ounce of justice served for killing George Floyd but even though sadly it never will bring George Floyd back. I logged on to Twitter to share my thought, did two tweets in a row saying:

Even though finding Derek Chauvin guilty does not mean that it will bring George Floyd back alive, I hope that is an example for every judge to follow and do better for all of other BIPOC (black, ingenious, people of color) people’s death by law enforcement from on forward because black lives do matter. Yes, I am a white person, and yes, I was taught by racist systemic, which is very ingrained in me as it is every other white people. Still, we must stop allowing that systemic to continue teaching us to be one by doing what is right by the BIPOC community that many of our past generations failed to do. My heart deeply goes out to them, and I saw a couple of people saying it is a sad day in America for the law enforcement because of Derek Chauvin being found guilty – shame on you! Derek Chauvin is not the one who is buried 6 feet in the dirt; George Floyd, along with many other BIPOC people, is thanks to the sick-minded police officers. Now, I wonder if you know where the police officers come from and how they were formed? Do the research! But if you rather know now than do some research, United States created the police in America to chase down runaway slaves and have them captured to return them to their “masters.” Later down the road, it became that same police in America to “serve and protect” that we know today originated from that and still have that mindset against BIPOC (black, ingenious, people of color) people.

Don’t believe me? Here is America’s history in police on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police#United_States

Nyle DiMarco Deleted His Twitter

The other day I decided to log on to Twitter to see what is new there; for some reason, my gut tells me to check Nyle DiMarco’s tweets because it is often that Nyle DiMarco tweets; they are smelt of hypocrisy. It took me to a page saying that the Twitter account does not exist. I figure that Nyle DiMarco had to block me or something because I would call him out for his wrongdoings every now. Then I decided to log in to my other business Twitter account to discover that it took me to a page that says the account does not exist because it does not exist because he has deleted his Twitter account. I wonder why he has deleted his Twitter account? His other account, the Nyle DiMarco Foundation on Twitter, hasn’t made a new tweet since the year 2019, and I head over to his Instagram to see if he also deleted his Instagram, but it was not, as he remains on Instagram.

So, what is up with that? If any of you understand why Nyle DiMarco has deleted his account on Twitter, Twitter was where he uses the most when voicing his opinions against others he thinks did wrong to the Deaf community, mainly in the movies and TV industry. If you know why or what happens, please tell me by either leaving a comment below, getting a hold of me on social media, or using the contact form here to send me an e-mail! I am genuinely curious.

COVID-19 Vaccine

I am now fully vaccinated, as I took the second dosage on the 24th of March last month. I, my mother, and Chad decided to take the COVID-19 vaccine, which we did so with no hesitation. As soon as FDA gave them the ok, we immediately want them and put ourselves on the registration list to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, which is more of a waiting list. We all three took Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, which has the highest percent although it is only by one percent higher than the Moderna one because Pfizer has 95% while Moderna has 94%, so it is close enough. When we went to have our vaccine shot, we went to a vaccine center in Pikeville, Ky, where we receive the vaccine while we stay in the vehicle. We pull up; a couple of people in a booth-alike who would take in the information, then hand us the papers for us to share our information and signed then drive ahead to some canopy where we would park there to pull down our windows then put up our arms out. They came over to give us a shot; then we leave that canopy to a parking lot to wait for 15 minutes to make sure that we did not have any reaction then we were out of there. It took us maybe, 5 minutes from the booth to the canopy to get shots and then 15 minutes in the parking lot waiting for the person who looks at the papers that they put down as a time that we were injected, so they look at their clock to see if we have been there for 15 minutes then let us drive past them to get out. Our experience of getting vaccinated is pretty positive; we did not have a big of a problem or anything as we only had was minor. That was a tiny hurt on the place of injection on the arms that go away within a day. We had the same experience from our second final dosage of the vaccine because, to be fully vaccinated, we have to take two dosages within’ 3 weeks apart, at least for Pfizer.

We didn’t feel any ill; we didn’t feel any fatigue, we didn’t get chills or sweats, we didn’t have diarrhea or anything like some says they did. Please note that this is only based on our experience, but even if we did get sick from it or anything like that, I would still be thrilled to go through it again because it thumps being seriously ill and dying. Most of the people who I know that took them said that they didn’t feel anything for both times; however, I do have a friend who told us that she sweated profoundly when she was in bed, but by the next day when she wakes up, they went away, so it only happened to her during her sleep. I also have another one who said she was fatigued and had a bit of headache, but it went away the next day. But the majority of people I know on a personal level or who I have on my friends’ list on social media seems to not to have any side effect which matches what a lot of news is saying, which is the majority percents of millions of people who have been vaccinated had none to a bit of hurt on the injection place for a day.

It is important to remember that getting the COVID-19 vaccine is a lot better than getting COVID-19 because by getting COVID-19, you actually risk dying, which is not an exaggeration. I know many people are complaining about continuing the masks mandate; even with some states loosening the restrictions, some companies still make it a policy that people must wear masks when they enter their buildings which is good for them. I know it’s tough to breathe under the mask, feeling that heated breathing bouncing between the mask and your mouth/nose, but it gives you a little bit of protection which is better than not being protected. If you are complaining about that, then get vaccinated, and you will be less required to wear the mask because when I visit some business or places, they would ask me if I have been vaccinated and that if I was, I could pull down my mask. However, I never did out of respect for others. I am baffled to see many people complain about having to wear the masks, saying that they should not be mandated to wear them because I don’t think they realize that not wearing them is what spread COVID-19 to others which causes others to become ill or dying then it would be these people fault for causing them to by refusing to wear the mask. So, stop being a child and wear a mask. But we are closer to back to normalcy though, however, to reach there is that we have to get as many as people vaccinated so that those who refused to wear masks cannot make the people who have health issues and older people become very ill or dying. The quicker you get yourself and your family or friends vaccinated, the sooner we can go back to normal with no mask mandate in place anywhere.

It does not matter which manufacturers, because all of them do the job they are supposed to do, which is to give you the ultimate protection from COVID-19 and the path to normal once again. So, if you see Pfizer, then get them; if you see Moderna, then get them; if you see Johnson & Johnson, get them because you must get them whatever is closest and available to you instead of waiting for them provide your favorite manufacturer. If you get Pfizer or Moderna, please be sure to follow your next appointment for a second dosage because that will have you vaccinated, and only to get one, then skip the second will not work at all, says CDC. To get vaccinated, look up your state’s government website; most of them have information ready for you to apply for the vaccine, and then they will call you to let you know when your appointment is to receive them. Be sure to encourage others to be vaccinated to keep them safe rather than continuing them to risk their life from COVID-19!

Pepsi vs. Coke

Ah, I think that Pepsi vs. Coke is probably the hottest thing worldwide that people debate daily. I am a Pepsi fan through and through, but I decided to go for a pack of Coke a few days ago because Coke drinks always have me saying “ah!” every time I drink them for the first time in a long time. Of course, I am sticking with Pepsi because Pepsi is more delicious, but I admit that Coke has that refreshing taste, especially if once in a while when you drink Pepsi every day. I’m not too fond of Coke from a pop/soda machine at some restaurants or fast-food restaurants where you grab a cup and then fill it up with Coke. That Coke I dislike, only when I like Coke is from cans or bottles, but as for Pepsi, I like all of them from anywhere, but to have Coke, it must be from a can or bottle. I wonder if that is just me, or some of you out there who are like that? Let me know in the comment and of course, let me know which one you like the best. Pepsi or Coke and why?! Looking forward to hearing from you on this topic!

Pikeville, Ky Is Designing Ways For Bikers

Not many people know this, but Pikeville has a project named Bikeway that is now underway. A bikeway is a designation for the people who like riding a bicycle; think of it as a lane and shelter for the bicycle riders to use on Pikeville’s road. I think this is a great idea; it is a step forward to elevating Pikeville as a city, as Pikeville already have the best hospital/medical networking in eastern Kentucky, a university, a movie theatre, a drag-racing strip down at the courthouse, Appalachian Center for the Arts, beer crafts, a few restaurants, and whatnot so bringing the bicycle network to Pikeville city is pushing that to the next level. Although, I think that Pikeville can booms so large with beautiful towers and bringing in many more businesses. I can see the city of Pikeville is transforming into a real city, even though it has already been the capital city of Pike County, Ky, but I think they should go further and further. Bringing bicycles into it is the first step; hopefully, that will lead them to bring in electric scooters the next and then expand Pikeville to a bigger city whether it goes higher or wider. Obviously, I am a wheelchair user, so having a bicycle designation/network does not benefit me. Still, I want Pikeville to be something bigger while I am alive and witness it. So, if any of you is in Pike County, Ky, and loves to ride a bicycle, this should excite you!

Here’s an article about this: https://news-expressky.com/news/pikeville-s-bikeway-project-underway/article_49ea3e22-a993-11eb-af8a-2fd0e1c572fe.html

The End!

I am calling it; I know that this snippets article is more likely going to be a short one, and I apologize about that. I have been swamped trying to juggle between JoshiesWorld and bringing back Joshie’s Photography. In a few days, at least sometime in May, I should stabilize my footing and start putting my focus on both equally instead of heavily on Joshie’s Photography because it took me a while to bring it back then get everything settled down. After all, I wouldn’t say I like finishing only half. If you know what topic I should write in the next snippets article, please feel free to let me know by getting a hold of me on social media, leaving a comment below, or contacting me. If you have anything that you think I should investigate or keep track of or have anything that you think is important for everyone to know, please do that, which would be greatly appreciated! I am working on a couple of reviews; they should be out soon, so keep an eye on them! Thank you so much for all of your time reading this article; I hope you are doing well and staying safe!
