Thought?:

I must admit that it was overdue that I had not watched an Aquaman movie, and Aquaman was released in December 2018, so I was very late. Please beware that this review, as any reviews by anyone, will more than likely to spoil the entire or some of the movie or a television show.

From the beginning of Aquaman, it would show the making of Arthur, aka Aquaman. It was fascinating to watch a man named Tom Curry, who has a career in giving the sea a light for the boaters and as well to help the boaters with signaling. That place is called lighthouse, Tom Curry is not only stationed there but also it was his residence for the entirety of his life and one day that he would walk outside of his lighthouse where he would see something that he has never seen. There was something on the side of the rocks at the side of his lighthouse, and that something was someone who is a woman who seems to be injured as she was lying motionless. Tom Curry ran over to the seaside of his lighthouse to check on her, as she was irresponsible he picked her up and carried her from the shore to inside of his lighthouse to see if he could help her as she seems to be injured with some wounds on her body.

As Tom Curry wondered what he could do to help her, she came to her concussion, and then she immediately got into a defense mode. That injured woman who Tom Curry discovered is none other than the Queen Atlanna; she was injured because the father of illegitimate new King and that illegal King named King Orm sacrificed Queen Atlanna to The Trench. Queen Atlanna then fell in love with the lighthouse owner Tom Curry; they birthed a new child, and that new child is none other than Arthur, who is also known as the Aquaman.

As King Orm found out that Queen Atlanna escaped when they sacrificed her to The Trench, King Orm decided to send his soldiers after her and to try to bring her back to King Orm’s father as both were married which she was done so by force. Queen Atlanna had no choice but to go back in the deep, in the deep that is the sea to keep Tom Curry and their newly birthed son named Arthur, aka Aquaman safe. Fast-forward, as Arthur grew and became a muscular adult who does not even want to be the hero that he was meant to be as that Arthur is the one who in the line to the throne legitimate but instead King Orm had taken it because King Orm is the half brother of Arthur. Same mother but a different father. King Orm found out that there was someone else who is legitimate in line to the throne instead of King Orm himself, he decided to send some warnings in an attempt to keep Arthur at the side and on the land instead of in the sea. But someone else came to his rescue, that person is named Mera and Mera was the one who told Arthur that it is Arthur who is legitimate in line to the throne that is occupied by his half-brother. Mera begged Arthur to come to his home and prevent King Orm from waging war on the land, but Arthur refused at first then eventually gave in to make a trip to his home in the sea for the first time.

During his trip to his home for the first time and the journey in doing so bring many surprises for Arthur aka Aquaman especially after not being able to defeat King Orm to dethrone King Orm and realized that there was the only way that he would be able to defeat King Orm is to have the first King of Atlantis named Poseidon’s trident.  So, he escaped narrowly with the help of Mera and then made a journey together in the hope of discovering the trident to defeat King Orm successfully.

On that journey of Aquaman and Mera to hunt for the treasure, which is the first King’s trident, was interesting to watch because some surprises come along in that journey. What surprises were they? And did they found the trident? I think I will leave these questions unanswered so you can find out yourself when you watch the Aquaman movie if you have not already.

The Aquaman movie has been perceived poorly by other critics, and the audience has regarded the Aquaman very well, especially the fans of comics. In my opinion, I do see some validation in some of the critics’ views, and I also don’t see why the critics viewed the Aquaman movie poorly. Sometimes I do wonder if these critics watched Aquaman thoroughly and even if they have read Aquaman’s comic books because some of their comments made no sense. I do agree that there are a lot of misses/flaws, some scenes that could have been improved, some scenes, or some lines should have been added to the script and whatnot. Even with these problems, I think that Aquaman movie came out pretty good, and I am a fan of Aquaman as I collect Aquaman’s comic books for years now. As I said, the Aquaman movie is hit and misses (has flaws), but in the end, the Aquaman movie did pretty well, in my opinion.

Their cinematic is pretty good, their camera work is good, and their effects are great, especially how in the sea were colorful. The casts in the Aquaman movie is near perfect in my opinion, Jason Momoa did Arthur/Aquaman a great justice. Still, I do wish that he would either dye or have bright blonde hair because Aquaman’s hair is blonde, Amber Heard did an excellent job being Mera, and Nicole Kidman did well as Queen Atlanna. This Aquaman movie is what you would expect for an Aquaman movie even with the hit and misses. If you are a fan of action, adventure and fantasy movie, or a fan of superhero movies, then you will like Aquaman movie. I recommend Aquaman movie for you to watch at night on the weekend. Even though this movie is action, adventure, and fantasy, it also has a good amount of comedy in it where some scenes will have you chuckling. Just get yourself some popcorn, have your family or friends to sit on the couch on a night on the weekend, and watch Aquaman, which I think you all will enjoy. I recommend that you ignore most of the critics that viewed this movie poorly because after I was watching Aquaman movie, I was perplexed with how critics would see the Aquaman movie as a very subpar movie because I did enjoy it. It’s not the best DC Comics movie, but it isn’t the worst either, and it does worth the time to watch.

With that said, I am rating this movie Aquaman a 3.3, and that translates pretty good”. I would have given another .1 if minor problems in the film weren’t there, such as Aquaman’s hair is supposed to be blonde.
