BallFork Mountain.

Last weekend we have decided that we would go riding on four wheelers as I own ATVs or some just prefer to call them four wheelers but I like to call them ATV because when you say four wheelers, most of times the trucks comes to mind although ATV can be called four-wheeler as well so sometimes it’s a bit confusing when it comes to talking about four-wheeler because sometimes people would think it means truck and sometimes people would think it means ATV. So calling them ATV would be more straightforward in my opinion, hence they are classified that and what more it can be confusing too because some people calls the side by side ATV as well but they are classified as UTV which is what I also like to call them myself; UTV stands for Utility Terrain Vehicle and ATV is All-Terrain Vehicle. Nonetheless back to the subject, Ballfork Mountain which is a very beautiful mountain that I like going to as much as I can when I have the time or energy to do so and Ballfork Mountain is found in Blackberry, Kentucky which is here in the United States so if you ever decide to come visiting the United States for trail riding on either ATV or UTV/SXS I would highly recommend that Ballfork Mountain is one of few to check out and they have plenty of mileage that you can cover which is what makes it more fun because in my opinion that wherever has a trail that’s made for ATV/UTV with a couple of hundreds or more miles to ride for is worthy to check out.

Anyhow last weekend for the memorial weekend, we decided to go trail riding on two of my ATVs as I own two which I let my mother and my step father to drive one of them while I drive the new one that I bought a few years ago. There were two mountains that we were debating on which trails that we should hit for the memorial weekend and we decided to take the Ballfork Mountain one.

BallFork Mountain

Two choice were Ballfork Mountain and one in Martin County here in Kentucky, a mountain that I never have ridden before and I have no clue what the mountain in Martin County is called. I am somewhat unfamiliar with that one, originally we decided BallFork Mountain but then my mother found out through one of her friend that there would be a lot of people riding in Martin County for the memorial weekend then we decided that we would hit that one but then at the last-minute we changed our mind and went with the original plan to ride at the Ballfork Mountain. I am very glad that we changed the plan from going to the one in Martin County to Ballfork Mountain because in my opinion that BallFork Mountain is already a lot of fun, not only that it is a trail that I am very familiar with and thankfully we choose BallFork Mountain over Martin County because my power steering went out so it made a bit hard on me to steer it because if we were going to the one over in Martin County then it would be near impossible to turn around as I am unfamiliar with the trail in Martin County so if we were to go to the one in Martin County then we would have to rely on somebody else to lead us back which is something that I am not a fan of because I would have no control of saying I am done with riding as I would have to suffer myself to keep going on with others in front until they turn around when they decide. I prefer that it’s my decision on when to turn around to go back home instead of having to wait until they decide when it’s time to turn around which that could be too many hours for me especially with no power steering.

So with that said, we decided to go to Ballfork Mountain instead and had fun until I could no longer have the strength to keep going as the muscles in both of my arms, actually mostly with my left arm due to not having any power steering and turned around to come back home. We lasted about a good two hours, with that I even bought my gears with me which is my GoPro Hero4 Black Edition and the new one that I just bought about three or four days before we head out riding which that was Saturday last weekend. Because I wanted to record the video so that I could take you guys with us and go riding. I had thought about doing the live with Periscope app which is owned by Twitter as Periscope now partnered with GoPro and offer live streaming using the GoPro cameras but I decided to not do so because I didn’t want to run out of the battery that fast and beside I am glad that I decided that because after setting up the GoPro Hero4 Black Edition on the front of my ATV we forgot to bring my GoPro case which has a few batteries for it along with other mounts/accessories so that would be a bummer to run out of battery before we finished riding. I have uploaded the video called ATV Adventure: Ballfork Mountain, you can find the video in the media page (here) at top of the website then look for the ATV Adventures album under the video section along with some of other different videos or I could just go ahead and make it easier for you to embed the video below so that you can go ahead to watch the video right here on this post below.

I hope you enjoy the video that I have taken of riding at Ballfork Mountain on the memorial weekend and hopes that makes you feel as if you were apart of the adventure as that’s were my idea to do so. Believe me, this isn’t the end as it has just begins because we will be going out riding more as the next one will be the one in Martin County if I can find somebody who will guide us there and will turn around when I asks. If I am able to find one then of course I for sure will be bringing my tech gears with me such as some GoPro cameras for you guys to watch and gives you some idea of what’s the trail looks like in Martin County. Martin County is also in the state of Kentucky, shorter drive from here than it was to Ballfork mountain and they says that the trail in Martin County is longer than it is at Ballfork Mountain so we will see about that but I am hoping that it will be as fun or more than it is at Ballfork. I have no idea when the next time we will be heading out to ride because as I have mentioned earlier that my new ATV has lost its power steering so I made an appointment with ATV shop to repair the power steering on the 14th of June and I think that’s somewhat too long but they say that they are full as they only have one person who works on it sadly.

Looking forward to try the one in Martin County in two weeks hopefully, the weekend after the June 14th if the shop gets my power steering fixed in time so I am being very hopeful. If any of you would be interested in go riding with me at Martin County or maybe back to Ballfork Mountain this month you are more than welcome to do so and to join the ride please contact me so that way I can have your contact information so that way when we are ready to go back out trail riding then I will contact you to let you know the date and where to meet us. I am founder of ATV club, Appalachian Crawlers Club which welcomes both ATV and SXS as SXS falls under the ATV category too so it is free for you to join the club as all you have to do is sign up at AppalachianCrawlers.com then keep an eye out for the upcoming calendar for the next ride!

Not just these but others too

Ballfork Mountain in Blackberry, Ky and one unknown name mountain in Martin County, Ky aren’t the only trails that we are planning on to ride in the coming days. There are a few other trails that we are planning on to go riding such as a couple trails that is in Hatfield and McCoy Trails System such as Buffalo Trail and Rockhouse Trail! They are much bigger, marked and daily maintained than these two local trails so if you are interested in go riding with us to as such big as these mountains sign up at AppalachianCrawlers.com or look up for some information there on how you can get involved.

Thank you very much for riding and I hope that all of you have a great day. Be safe if any of you are planning on to go out riding any time soon and be sure to record some videos if you have GoPro. Feel free to leave a comment below.
