Some of you know about the heated protest going on around against the Deaf institution called Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (WPSD) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania due to oppression in the Deaf community by the administration of the Deaf institution Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (WPSD) and for some of you don’t know anything about the situation over at the Deaf institution Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf protests started by the Deaf community especially their students and their alumni in particulars you can read an article I written last week under the title “WPSD Oppression” or you can click here to read the article which I suggest that you do if you don’t know anything about the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf protests because they will be related to this article otherwise you won’t get the entire idea of what is going on with Chris Wagner. Chris Wagner is National Association of the Deaf (NAD) president who have few responsibilities which that includes to advocate for Deaf individuals in both human and civil rights especially to make sure that they are not being discriminated and represents the Deaf community hence National Association of the Deaf (NAD) is the association “of” not “for” the Deaf/Hard of Hearing individuals. Ever since Chris Wagner were elected for presidency position in National Association of the Deaf (NAD), National Association of the Deaf (NAD) have dwindles more than ever and is losing their reputation at all once too in the eyes of the public.
The highest ranking position in the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and their CEO is Howard A. Rosenblum who have the full controls of National Association of the Deaf (NAD) to make sure that the demands are being done or to make sure that the board of National Association of the Deaf (NAD) is doing their job to get what the Deaf people needs and that includes the laws to make sure that Deaf individuals have their civil rights.
Few weeks ago when things erupts with the Deaf institution Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf by starting the protests against Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf because they are tired of being oppressed by the administration at Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf and it became more heated than ever especially the moment that the protesters decided to take the protest to the next level by doing the hunger strike which is very dangerous to their health. The video where the president of Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf Donald Rhoten announced his resignation from the Deaf institution by showing papers with his writings instead of announcing his resignation in the Deaf natural language American Sign Language (ASL) surely intensified the situations between the protesters and the Deaf institution Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. As it intensified, National Association of the Deaf (NAD) President Chris Wagner decided to make a vlog at the wrong time as his vlog angered and shocked the entire Deaf community at the same time because of what the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) President Chris Wagner said in the video which was towards to the protesters specifically saying that both protesters and the Deaf institution Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf should unify with each others while at the same time saying that the protesters should ask Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf administrations politely for what the protesters needs or wants. You can see the vlog that National Association of the Deaf (NAD) President Chris Wagner made in response to the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf protesters and the Deaf community below.
National Association of the Deaf (NAD) President Chris Wagner angered just not only the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf protesters but most Deaf community too because of how the way National Association of the Deaf (NAD) Chris Wagner were saying in some scenes but what Chris Wagner himself did not realize is that he is the president for the Deaf association that advocates for the Deaf community against many of the things including the words of Chris Wagner’s own in response to the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (WPSD) protesters, in other words Chris Wagner who represents the Deaf community including the protesters too since the majority of the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf protesters are Deaf were siding with both Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf and the Deaf institution president Don Rhoten who happens to oppress their own students and oppress the entire Deaf community too so this makes Chris Wagner a hypocrite more than ever as he is supposed to stand up against Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf too for oppressing the Deaf community since that Chris Wagner himself is the president of National Association of the Deaf (NAD) an association that represents the Deaf community.
Would it not make any sense if you are the president of an association or organization that advocates for whatever that your association or organization represents for and you are taking the opposite’s side? Wouldn’t that make you a hypocrite right? I thought so too. What is even worse is that the video/vlog that Chris Wagner himself made is under National Association of the Deaf official YouTube channel! Ever since National Association of the Deaf (NAD) President Chris Wagner made the video, of course it’s a solid reason for the Deaf community to be angry for what the association that represents them did and now the Deaf community are protesting against National Association of the Deaf (NAD) that represents them to impeach the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) President Chris Wagner. Right now the Deaf community have created a petition where they are politely gives the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) current President Chris Wagner a chance to resigns because it is said that Chris Wagner’s views and special interests does not align with National Association of the Deaf (NAD) mission statements along with the Deaf civil rights. If Chris Wagner does not resigns by the time that the petition have all of signatures that they need then the Deaf community will be using the petitions to demand the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) to impeach Chris Wagner from his position of presidency in National Association of the Deaf (NAD). Opinion
In my opinion I do somewhat agree with the majority of the Deaf community about the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) President Chris Wagner because ever since Chris Wagner was elected for the president position in National Association of the Deaf (NAD), an association that represents the Deaf community including myself have dwindled drastically because of the poor actions that Chris Wagner himself have made for the Deaf community. In my belief that I think the only reason Chris Wagner wanted the president position at National Association of the Deaf (NAD) is so that Chris Wagner could have himself a status quo where he doesn’t care about anything but himself and the title that he has which is President but at one of the oldest and national’s association as National Association of the Deaf is the main association in the United States that represents the Deaf community. Chris Wagner himself never made any accomplishments for the Deaf community in National Association of the Deaf (NAD) and the only person that made some accomplishments past the months is National Association of the Deaf (NAD) CEO Howard Rosenblum himself as he somewhat does follows the mission statements and he has the passion doing so but none by the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) president Chris Wagner himself though. So in my opinion, I absolutely do think that Chris Wagner needs to either be impeached or resigns because obviously we the Deaf community do not want anyone who runs the president just for the status quo as we need someone who is willing to do more than advocating for the Deaf community and have the passion in doing so.
And beside why would we want a president who take the opposite’s side when the president is supposes to take the side that the association or organization represents for? So it is time for Chris Wagner to go as we have gave him too many chances in hope that one day he’d finally do something for us instead of just being there for his status quo and like many have said – enough is enough! National Association of the Deaf (NAD) I think I can speak for everyone; I am disappointed in you.
