I have decided to go for at least one luxury pen in my life, there are a few luxury pens out there on the market, and it was somewhat hard to decide which to go for. The one I went to is Cross brand; they have different models and different types of pens. A.T. Cross is known for making luxury pens since 1846, there are not many pens manufactured in the United States of America, and A.T. Cross is one of them. Not only that, Cross pens are favorite pens of United States presidents that they use to sign bills at their desks at white house or other places – you know the tray with several pens? They are often Cross. The United States Capitol uses Cross pens and the white house, and the United States Capitol has a contract with them for a supply of Cross pens. So, that tells me that Cross is well-reputation for their pens and that was just enough for me to decide to purchase a pen from them rather than one from another company like Germany’s pens company Montblanc. As I said, I have chosen to go with Cross pens, so I decided to purchase a midnight green micro knurled and sandblasted black PVD with matte black PVD appointments selectip roller pen. That is the pen that I am reviewing here.
Some of you know, and many of you don’t know, that ever since I first held a pen as a child, I started collecting several pens. These pens were not collectible or anything special; I used to get several cheap pens that I would bring to school in a zipped bag, and whenever I see someone wanting to use a pen or a pencil from me, I would get upset. As a child in grade school, I never liked anyone using my pens, even my family members, because, for some reason, I would feel accomplished when I emptied every pen that I used in the early years of grade school. From there, I knew I have a love for pens, and ever since, I have been very picky when it comes to picking which pens to buy (cheap ones at a supermarket) for my school years. Still to this day, it is no different; the only difference is that I am good with anyone using my pens, every new pen that I brought I want immediate family members to try them if they never used them before so I could hear their opinions on these pens I got. I am still picky when it comes to buying pens. I always look for pens that I feel comfortable writing with, especially now that I do it for my career as a journalist and notetaking. Thanks to internet shopping, I now always look for pens in bulk to give out a few to my mother and my stepfather. After going through hundreds of different pens in my lifetime, I have found my favorite pens for the past year, and that was Sharpie Rollerball Pen. I was running out of them a few days ago, so I was in need to buy another pack of pens, but this time I decided to do research and felt that I should get a luxury pen that I foresee myself using for many years like some people would with their great-grandparents safety razor or straight razor. After lengthy research, reading several blogs or reviews on some luxury pens, I felt that this Cross Townsend pen would be the pen. I was excited after making an order and looked forward to getting it in my hands to try it out and start using the pen.
My reaction was, what a pen! It’s not your typical pen; it is heavier on one end while light on the other end, and because of that, I believe that it gives me stability in my writing. This Cross Townsend feels like a thick metal with textile cuts, almost like a diamond cut, and when I took the lid off a pen, it comes off smooth. It’s not like that where I grab the cap of a pen and pull it out quickly. It is like pulling a lid from the pen slowly on its own instead of right off the pen, and when I put the cap on the other end of the pen, it snaps in tightly. They have three different types that I could go for, such as fountain, ballpoint, and rollerball. I picked rollerball because it’s bolder, and they often don’t sputter as some ballpoints do.
As you know, many cheap pens would feel like scratching on a pen when you write on a piece of paper, and there are a few cheap pens that write decently? This Cross Towsend pen is twice or even triple that; I was taken back when I tested the pen writing on a piece of paper because I never thought a pen would write such smooth as this Cross Townsend! It has a different feeling when I write than the other pens I have used, which are hundreds of different pens from a supermarket store. I could tell that this pen Cross Townsend has a luxury feeling to it, not only in writing but also in the pen’s body, along with the weight and balance. It can write very smoothly, as you know some of these pens would sometimes give up on you while you are writing, and then you would have to grab another paper to write in a circle to get the ink coming through again? This Cross Townsend doesn’t do that, which is great for writers like myself. This Cross Townsend, along with many of their Cross pens, can be refilled using their ink refills so I can use however long I wish out of this pen and hoping that it would be an inheritance thing where I can pass it down to my children or someone else if I don’t have a child. For this Cross Townsend, I can have three different kinds of ink refills, which they call selectip, where I can use regular rollerball, jumbo rollerball, or Porous-Point refills for this Cross Townsend. They have different colors for them as well, so far, at a glance, I see that they have black, blue, red, and purple.
I highly recommend Cross Townsend, they have different colors that you can pick, and I chose the green micro knurled one. I am happy with this pen, it is the smoothest pen that I have ever tried, and the feel to the pen is luxury but expect that this might be a bit heavier than the typical pens you use because luxury pens are usually a bit heavy. Cross have different collections that you can choose from, but I went for the Townsend one because it is their most luxurious one and it is a good looking one! For their collections, they also have different writing types such as rollerball, ballpoint, and fountain. It writes like a dream, and like many say, they are good enough to sign United States bills by United States president or United States congress. Cross pens are made in the United States since the year 1846. This pen Cross Townsend and their other pens are mighty!
I am rating Cross Townsend a 4.4, which that translates really great.
