Not too long ago the leading social networking company, Facebook decided to come up with a new of something for its users where they can pass their legacy from Facebook account to one of their family members or to someone who they would trust to manage their Facebook account after they passed away. When you pass away, that person who you added as your legacy for your Facebook account will let Facebook know that its user have passed away and you will then take over his or hers Facebook account which it will act as memorial profile for that user. The name of the person you see on the top of his or her profile will be changed to memory of _________. The access to his or her Facebook account will be limited such as you will not be able to read his or her message or anything else but accept its new friends, wall posts and the basic stuff. By taking it over will ensure that the Facebook account of the person who passed away to not become inactive overtime, to be hacked, spammed and such so to make sure that nothing happens to his or her Facebook account. I have taken screenshots with instructions on how to add someone as legacy for your Facebook account that you trust someone who will be taking over your Facebook profile so that it can allow everybody to post their memories about that person and to prevent somebody else to take it over because they can especially if they have the death certification so by adding legacy will prevent anyone else to take the control of your Facebook account.
I recommend you to do this because it’s important, there’s a lot of cases who somebody took over when the users who have passed away would prefer somebody else over them to take over their Facebook account because there were some people who successfully took over the deceased user only to screw around with by playing pranks or by allowing many negative sayings to be posted on the deceased Facebook profile.
Facebook Legacy Guides
1. Go to your Facebook privacy settings by clicking on the locker logo at the top of the Facebook. It will bring a drop list with options for you to choose so look at the bottom of that drop-list for “See More Settings” and click that.
2. On the left side where you will see different options for you to go and click the one that says “Security”.
3. On right side under the security settings, look for the one that says “Legacy Contact” and click the edit button.
4. When you clicked the text “edit” it should expand and then type the name of someone who you want or trust to take over your Facebook account as your legacy contact once you have passed away so that he or she can make sure that nothing will happen to your Facebook profile so that everybody can share their memories about you which by doing that you are allowing them to help themselves emotionally a lot by expressing or sharing their memories about you with others.
5. Once you have typed someone’s name, it should bring up a summary of that person such as that someone’s picture so that you know you’re adding the right person and click the person’s name with picture when it pops up after you types his or hers name in the field. Then click the “Add” button, it will prompt you to send him or her a message to let him or her know that you have added him or her as your legacy contact for your Facebook account for him or her to take over once you have passed away. You can either click “not now” which that allow you to not to send him or her a message to let him or her to know that you have added him or her as your Facebook legacy contact for your Facebook account or you can type whatever you would like to say to him or her about adding him or her as your Facebook Legacy contact for him or her to take over your Facebook account once you have passed away. I recommend you to let him or her to know that you have added him or her as your Facebook Legacy so that he or she will be aware of it so that he or she knows to take over your Facebook account once you have passed away.
Once you have clicked the “Add” button, there’s an option below the field where it says “Data Archival Permission” where you can allow the person who you added as your Facebook legacy to download the archive of your Facebook which includes photos, videos, wall posts and information which is useful where the person who you added as your Facebook legacy can download them to their computers so to make sure that all of videos, pictures, information etc from your Facebook never to be lost and it is senimential thing. Then click the button “Close” and that’s it you have done it.
If you want to learn more about the new feature (not exactly new, but one or maybe two months old) Facebook Legacy that Facebook have added for all of their users and in my opinion I believe that it’s one of few important things that Facebook have done for the users. Here’s the Facebook Legacy Page for you to get a better understanding about that feature: https://www.facebook.com/help/1568013990080948#What-is-a-legacy-contact?
Hope this helps you and hope all of you have a great day! If you need any assistance, feel free to leave a comment and I will look to it.
