Thought?:
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is the second installment/film for the Fantastic Beasts franchise, Fantastic Beasts first came out in 2016 titled “Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them” then the latest one which is the second one titled “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” came out two years ago on November in 2018. I watched half of the movie for the first night and then the rest on the second night to truly absorb everything that was going on in the film because if I were to watch the entire movie at once, then I might forget certain scenes or anything that I didn’t get the chance to absorb much of the film.
The opening of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, basically an introduction of who Grindelwald is which is played by Johnny Depp when they were visiting the room that he was in and ready to have him transferred, but you could tell that they were drumming up something as if there is something that is about happening. It did, which gave me flashbacks to Harry Potter’s film where Hagrid came to save Harry Potter and his friends, I believe, by flying in the sky away from their homes. It was almost the same cinematic used in Fantastic Beast: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
To not spoil too much, even though this movie is two years old now I believe, but I am sure that some people haven’t watched this because I am among one the others who haven’t watched it until two years later which I just did a few days ago. I must say that in the middle of the storyline, it almost “try” to get a bit boring. At the same time, it tries to keep you entertained because you are watching the journey of Newt chasing after Tina. It leads him along with her after discovering her to a different story, especially from trying to find Tina to searching for Grindelwald and then to the battle at the end, which I won’t spoil the result. Still, the cinematic of the ending was mindblowing! If they are to say that this movie is the final, then it wouldn’t make any sense. I wouldn’t rate it 3.3 because I would have rated it a bit lower than that but because this is not the final as this is only the start which I hope with Grindelwald especially with the help of his brother who would have to break the bond by blood, so it’s going to be interesting to see where Fantastic Beast will lead to with Grindelwald. The ending and a bit of the start are what helps the rating to be 3.3, if it weren’t for that, I would positively rate it a bit lower, and if I am to rate only BASED on the middle of the movie without the beginning and the ending, I will rate it in range of 2.5.-2.8. Still, with the opening and the ending, this brings it to reasonable 3.3 ratings.
I recommend Fantastic Beast: The Crimes of Grindelwald. However, only one thing that I might caution is that I am NOT so sure if it’s that family-friendly movie, especially for anyone who is 14 or under as Harry Potter was known for. It’s becoming more of an adult fantasy movie, a pre-Harry Potter story, but it is rated PG-13, so it is up to the parents. Nonetheless, I recommend it as long as you keep it in mind that this Fantastic Beast: The Crimes of Grindelwald is not the final nor the only movie with this story, as it is more of a film with the beginning of a story for Grindelwald. As well I am sure for Newt too.
