Thought?:

The other night I decided to browse through all of the movies that I have in my library that I have not yet watched, and the Ford v Ferrari was one of them. So, I have decided to go ahead and watch Ford v Ferrari but in mind that it was likely going to be mostly a biography movie, which turned out I was wrong about that because it was more than just a biography film. This movie Ford v Ferrari pretty much almost says it all, but there was more than that because it is also an action and as well a drama movie. While the film is called Ford v Ferrari, it also has another name, and that is Le Mans ’66, which is what this exact movie is called in most European territories but over here in the United States of America, it is called Ford v Ferrari.

As I said, this movie Ford v Ferrari is more than just a biography movie because even though it does have a biography in it, especially about Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles. Along with the history of Ford, a bit of Ferrari, and as well the history of about 24 Hours of Le Mans, especially in the year of 1966. We get to see the competitiveness in the movie, especially with Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles. Ken Miles had a unique attitude in the film; with that attitude, we see the persistence and the resilience in Ken Miles, significantly when he was modifying the Ford GT40 while being supervised by none other than Carroll Shelby. Throughout the movie, we see Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles becoming closer friends even though he was repeatedly betrayed, although it was no fault of Carroll Shelby. Still, Carroll Shelby was one who had to do as he was ordered by the Ford Company to do so even if Carroll Shelby did not agree or want to.

Even though it was Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles who created a car that would become the first and last America’s racing car to win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Ford Company jumped over them to take all the credit while at the same time tricking them into doing something that both Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles did not realize until it was at the end. Throughout this movie had me in a high octane ride, excited while being on the edge of the chair and had me feeling the adrenaline watching all of the racing or the tests. At the same time, it made me feel frustrated and disappointed with how the Ford Company would treat Ken Miles, especially knowing that Ken Miles has what it take to win. Besides that, it was heartwrenching for me to see some scenes where Ken Miles would often be ditched just because the Ford Company disagreed with how he looks and how he acts. They wanted a racer who can dress adequately, who does not have an attitude, and someone they can control, which Ken Miles is the opposite of these criteria. The Ford Company said that Ken Miles was “too pure” for them as a racer. I can only give as few as possible spoilers from a movie so to know the rest, and as well many more things that happen in the Ford v Ferrari movie is what you will have to watch to find out.

The start of 24 Hours of Le Mans was unbelievable, the cinematic of the film was very good, and the casting for Ford v Ferrari fitted, in my opinion. Matt Demon did Carroll Shelby well, Christian Bale did Ken Miles even better, and I think that Caitriona Balfe was so right for the character of Mollie Miles (Ken Miles wife). There are some of the things that I don’t like about the Ford v Ferrari movie is that I think there are a lot of gaps that they did not take the opportunity to fill. Their script was good, but the accuracy is the question because there are some missed parts of the history in the movie. Other reviewers stated that they had revised some of the histories in the film and as well did not take the opportunity to add others to make the movie more true. There are some scenes that they should do to make them complete, as there are a few scenes that seem to be incomplete, and it is almost as if they do bits by bits instead of making it a whole, so that was a let down in a somewhat wrong way. However, if we ignore that and focus on the movie as an action and drama movie, it was good. If it is just like another movie, it is good, but they tried so hard to make it a biography without completing them, which is a problem especially for the people who know about the history. The bottom line, I do think that the Ford v Ferrari movie is close to being a great movie if we forget that this movie is supposed to be a biography of the Ford Company, Carroll Shelby, and Ken Miles.

I highly recommend the Ford v Ferrari movie; if you are a fan of action movie racing in it, then I believe that you will like the film a lot. Ford v Ferrari movie will get you thrilled, have your heart beating out of your chest, makes your head racing, and put you on the edge of the seat. We just got to look past the incomplete biography; although it was fantastic to learn basic about who Carroll Shelby, Ken Miles, Henry Ford II, and the Ford Company were, they shouldn’t leave some gaps or alter some in the movie who don’t know about them miss out. I am rating Ford v Ferrari a 3.8, and that translates very good.
