Game of Thrones

Easily One Of The Best!

Name: Game of Thrones

Description: Game of Thrones is roughly based on the storylines of A Song of Ice and Fire, set in the fictional Seven Kingdoms of Westeros and the continent of Essos. The series chronicles the violent dynastic struggles among the realm's noble families for the Iron Throne, while other families fight for independence from it.

I was one of the groups who were not immediately interested in watching Game of Thrones, for myself because I didn’t think it was interesting in the beginning after reading the description of the television show and as well read some thoughts from others on social media. I actually did not watch Game of Thrones until it was in the third season, at that time it was when Game of Thrones became so successful and I figured that it was about the time that I see it to see why it was highly anticipated. Went to Wal-Mart, saw that they have first, second and third seasons DVD so I bought all of them. Came home, popped a DVD in from the first season and I immediately fell in love with the television show because it pretty much covers all different types for characters. By that, I mean diversity, because there was a small person (dwarf which I find it offensive), many races, different religions, ages and so many more. Plus who couldn’t resist seeing Emilia Clarke who portrayed Daenerys Targaryen?! An attractive woman with three dragons. As I said, it covers everything and I mean everything which that include nudity, sex and more so this definitely is not suitable for children.

I must admit that out of all characters in Game of Thrones, besides Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen my favorite character would be Tyrion Lannister or more known as Imp who was portrayed by Peter Dinklage. Geez, he sure knows no boundary when it comes to drinking and sex. But he is very smart when he needs to be or at the place of the time that he needs to be.

I think a scene or a part of the television show where you just cannot grasp what was happening or not expecting that it would happen and it is something that we can’t forget – it sticks with me. It was the death of Jon Snow in season 5 finale episode when he was severely stabbed by Alliser Thorne along with several others of the Night’s Watch when they marked Jon Snow a traitor.

Onward to season 8 which is the final season, it was disappointing for all of us fans to hear that season 8 was going to be their final season and not only that HBO also said that there would only be 6 episodes (somewhere they said it’d be 7 or 8 but ended up only 6) instead of 10 episodes per season. If you haven’t watched the last season then don’t read any further from this point because it will contain spoilers.

As I said, season 8 is the final season for Game of Thrones disappointed us because we wanted more and I don’t think that we actually expected that it was coming to end as we figured that there might be at least a couple or a few more seasons to go before coming to an end – we knew that there was the end coming but not the season 8 to be the end. From the beginning of season 8 was actually great but there were some parts that disappointed me such as Daenerys with only one surviving dragon blazed most of the King’s Landing. Aside from the Winterfell, I think King’s Landing is probably the most beautiful than all other “kingdoms” and that was a disappointing part. I had hoped that they had taken over King’s Landing without that much of damage, I am sure that many of us think that was where Jon Snow would officially become the King there and have a beautiful ending but that was nowhere close to the case because Jon Snow didn’t even become King in the end – in fact, worse than we thought. Jon Snow was ordered to give up his Stark house and that if he wanted to have some kind of freedom from being imprisoned or worse which is death is that he would have to go back to the place where we see him a lot of the times in all seasons – Night’s Watch.

I admit that I smirked when Bran Stark became the King because it was unexpected but at that same time I could see why they did because I suspect that they want to do something inspiring such as ending the show with a person who is disabled to be crowned as the king. I am in a wheelchair myself, I might see it differently than the most because that is what a lot of people complained about because they expected that Jon Snow would be the one to be crowned as the king all along and abruptly it worsens for Jon Snow especially forcing him to give up his house of Stark. I can see tokenism play a big role in the ending, especially making Bran Stark or as they call him Bran The Broken the King but at the same time I can see the reason that they did that because in some way it is fitting especially that the reason the crown went to him is because of his memory as he saw it all since the beginning.

I highly recommend Game of Thrones to anyone who likes Lord of Rings, The Last Kingdom, Knightfall, The Outlander, The Vikings and others except that Game of Thrones is ten times better than all of them combined so that should give you the idea of how great Game of Thrones is for a television show!
