I would like to say that I wish every single of you a very Happy Thanksgiving of the year 2016! Some of the people including myself who celebrate thanksgiving or some of the other holidays earlier or later and as for this year we decided to celebrate Thanksgiving a day earlier which that means today instead of celebrating for Thanksgiving tomorrow. Some people just have their preference for when to celebrate for what, such as Thanksgiving, Birthday or Christmas for certain reasons whether it be a conflicts with some people’s schedules, health or medical reasons and among others. We started celebrating either a day before or the day after for some holidays but we never will celebrate a day earlier or later for Christmas as we always have to celebrate on Christmas day, we have do so for several decades in all of our family generations and I don’t recall of ever celebrating Christmas a day earlier or a day after. Although I did used to celebrate Christmas a day before every year when I was young with my father and his side of the family but as for me and my mother’s side of the family it is always on the 25th of December every year no matter if we are to celebrate early in the morning or late at the night as long as we at least celebrated Christmas on its Christmas day. But as for Thanksgiving, we have celebrated on the day of Thanksgiving and a day before on some different years so pretty much each year takes their turn for us to celebrate on its day or a day earlier.
Since we celebrated Thanksgiving today, a day earlier for the Thanksgiving this time of the year we had most of the good foods cooked by my mother. When they are my mother’s homemade foods they are always to be the best foods obviously and any foods that are either canned or pre-ready or whatever it is called aren’t good sometimes.
For our Thanksgiving 2016, this year we decided to have the main foods that we traditionally have for every Thanksgiving which is the Turkey obviously, stuffed dressing (two separated stuffed dressing, I don’t like vegetables in it), mashed potatoes, rolls, green beans and sweet potatoes. For deserts we had peanut butter pie, sweet potatoes pie I think (I could be wrong) and one or two more of other pies as I forgot what pies they were except that I know that one of them are peanut butter pie because it is one of two or three of my favorite pies and I ate a slice of peanut butter pie today a few hours after the thanksgiving dinner. I didn’t have everything on the plate, as I have all the thanksgiving foods on the plate except the green beans because sometimes I am not a fan of the green beans and sometimes I am a fan of the green beans so I guess it depends on the mood which today is one of the day that I wasn’t in the mood for any green beans. As I said above that when it comes to my mom’s homemade foods they are the best, all the foods were homemade except the sweet potatoes as they were canned or the frozen packaged in a box I think but I am not sure. Now I am a huge fan of the sweet potatoes, however today the sweet potatoes that we had for the thanksgiving is the exception because I am not fan of the sweet potatoes that we had and when it comes to sweet potatoes it has to be the right one as not all sweet potatoes are the same apparently as I have discovered that today.
By having the right sweet potatoes I mean, I am not a fan of the plain sweet potatoes as I like the sweet potatoes that are sugared up or have a bittersweet taste to it like sugar. I am not fan of hard ones, think boiled square potatoes which it has no crunch to it at all and I am always huge fan of anything that is crunchy which is why I always asks that my baked potatoes to be baked a bit longer than they are supposed to be. That goes the same for the bacon as well, I refuse to eat bacon unless they are crisp as if they are practically burnt but not thoroughly burnt and that it must be cooked to the very crisp to the point that the white line (fat) on the bacon is nearly invisible.
Anyway, even though we had our thanksgiving dinner today and they were great. Lately every years on thanksgiving I am starting to get less interested about the thanksgiving, I think it is mainly because most of my family on my mother’s side is no longer here with us to celebrate the Thanksgiving with and I am just losing interest in the family traditions since my mamaw (my mother’s mother) passed away a few years ago. When we was starting to lose our family, it was started with my papaw then about two decades later we have very quickly lost them as after two decades, my uncle Brian passed away then my aunt Debbie passed away and the last straw was my mamaw’s death. They are three family members after my papaw’s death two decades ago that we celebrated holidays with, we lost my uncle Brian, my aunt Debbie and my mamaw in no more than three to four years span so we lost all three of them too quick. Since their death, I barely have that energy I used to have for some holidays such as Birthday, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year. Now it is just me and my mother which is something that I am extremely thankful for at the same time. Although we do have one more family member of that generation, as my mother had three siblings which we lost two of them in the span of two to four years apart and the remaining is my uncle John who is my mother’s oldest sibling (brother) but unfortunately we no longer associate with him as let’s say that he chosen the wrong side of the family even though we still love him dearly.
Okay, as for Thanksgiving means we celebrate the thanksgiving to be thankful for the people who we have in our lives and for the things that we have in our lives. I would love to hear what are yours, what are you thankful for? Leave some comment below!
What I am thankful for? Without hesitation; God, Jesus Christ and my mother. They are the main that I am extremely thankful for but I am also thankful for some family members on my father’s side of the family such as my mamaw (father’s mother) my uncle Ronnie, my aunt Janet, my aunt Sherry and few of my cousins such as Donnie, Jake, Robbie and Sabrina (Sissy). I am also thankful for some friendship that I have with few people and to have Chad in my life as I look up to him like he is my step father although my mother isn’t married to him at the moment. Why didn’t I involve my father and my siblings? After what they have done to me? I cannot be thankful because both my sisters (I am the oldest so that’s why it hurts me the most) and father have done several things to me that I am not definitely thankful for. Least but not last! I am very thankful for my fans and my readers; every one of you! You all are awesome and my success would not have happened if it weren’t for you so thank you all!
As it is now Thanksgiving day, I encourage all of you to tell the people who you are very thankful of them for all the things that they have done for you and let them know that you love them dearly. My mother has done so much for me, so much that my thankful can never covers them and I love her for that with all of my heart and my soul. Also my thanks cannot come close to covers the amount of things that God and Jesus Christ have done for me including making sure that I live a great life with my mother besides me. Anyway, I hope that all of you have a great thanksgiving and I hope that all of you enjoy these delicious foods that you will be eating for Thanksgiving today! I am sure that it is well-known that for a lot of the people including me and my mother, every thanksgiving when we eat we would take a power nap or what I calls it – The Thanksgiving Nap! In case if you don’t know why people often would pass out on thanksgiving, it is because of the turkey as the turkey is what makes some people very sleepy especially if they got so full with eating some delicious turkey and that would knock people out! Turkey has a natural sedative in it called tryptophan.
