I have taken pictures of the cake and the food, which I may share with everyone tomorrow, if I am able. According to the Danville police, Danville dispatch received a 911 emergency call around 9:30 PM on January 11th, and the caller reported that there was a man who was attempting to commit suicide with a knife at Center Estates Apartments. According to the caller who made the 911 call to the Danville dispatch, the man was claiming to be harming himself, sending some pictures of his injuries to that caller through social media. The news is saying that the officers in Danville, Ky, went to his apartment for a welfare/safety check, and the police breached his apartment's door, stating that the reason for doing so was to provide aid. The police say they have made contact with Cody Downey from outside of his apartment, and repeatedly commanded Cody Downey to drop the knife. The police said that Cody Downey came out of his apartment with a knife, and running toward Danville officers, he knocked one of them to the ground. One of the Danville officers grabbed his gun and then shot Cody Downey in the chest up close. The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) ambulance came to take Cody Downey to a nearby hospital, Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, but unfortunately, he was declared dead shortly after.

As for Hanukkah, I am somewhat late, as it is celebrated from December 14 to 22. But I still want to recognize that, as other holidays besides Christmas and New Year are important as well. Some know what these holidays are, where they come from, and how they are celebrated. The celebration of Christmas started in Rome around 336, but it was not a major Christian festival until the 19th century, which began on January 1 in 1801 and ended on December 31 in 1900. The original reason for Christmas was to celebrate Jesus Christ's birthday on December 25, a tradition established by Pope Julius I, combining religious observances with influences from winter solstice festivals such as Yule and Saturnalia. As for Hanukkah, it is a holiday for the Jewish people, the word Hanukkah means dedication due to purifying the Temple after the Jewish resistance against the Greek occuptation by Seleucid Empire after they outlawed the Jewish practices and defiled their Temple in 168 B.C.E. Hanukkah holiday also marks Jewish resists having their culture destroyed, and the fight for Jewish political autonomy such as their own country which is Israel. Kwanzaa, a relatively new holiday, was created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga to honor African heritage, culture, and unity among African Americans after the Watts riots, which lasted six days and involved an estimated 31,000 to 35,000 people. After renaming "Tidbits" to "Snippets," "Snippets" to "MultiTopic", "MultiTopic" to "Overviews", Overviews is now renamed to "Mix". I have been conducting extensive research and speaking with bloggers, journalists, content creators, and SEO (search engine optimization) specialists about the name. After several months of that, along with a lot of thoughts, the name "mix" hit the right spot as it makes more sense and is more understandable.

By having the option to get a refund from the airline for a reason like this, you would need to add insurance to your flight ticket, and that would incur extra fees. Think of it like an airline warranty.

Everyone has their favorite candies, and I do too. Mine is Reese's, specifically the seasonal ones, such as Valentine's, Easter, Halloween, and Christmas. The current one is obviously a pumpkin Reese's, since the Halloween holiday is coming up in a few weeks, at the end of October. What candy is your favorite?! - [Reacher Super Loud Alarm Clock](https://www.joshiesworld.com/reviews/reacher-super-loud-alarm-clock/): For many months, I have been using my iPhone as an alarm, relying on its vibration, or haptic feedback, to wake me up as a Deaf person. Not only did I have my phone to vibrate, but I also always had my phone's sound on the highest setting possible. Using a phone as an alarm clock is acceptable. I am sure many people now rely on their phones for this purpose, rather than having a traditional alarm clock. However, these devices aren't always effective for heavy sleepers. Speaking of heavy sleepers, I am one of them, combined with being Deaf, so there were the times that it failed to wake me up, and I always had the phone laid beside me on the bed, especially that the phone was either on my arm or my shoulder because as I said I am Deaf so to wake me up is feeling the vibration from my phone. Those times when it failed to wake me up were building my frustration up because I am not a fan of sleeping in for more than four hours. For many years, my bones have, for some reason, not been able to tolerate sleeping or lying down for too long. Ironically, it is said that as you get older, you want to sleep longer, but for me, it's the opposite - the older I get, the shorter my sleep time. As I mentioned earlier, my phone's alarm is hit or miss for me, and the misses were too frequent for my liking. I needed an alternative, hoping it would be more reliable than using my phone as an alarm clock. That's why I decided to look for a real alarm clock. Besides that, I'd like to keep my phone charged, but when I had it with me as an alarm clock, it was never on a charge. Plus, it's never a good idea to leave a phone charging on your bed, as it can cause a fire due to the heat generated while charging. So, when I go shopping for a real alarm clock, I have to do some research to make sure that it's the alarm clock that I need, such as it must have the strongest vibration, the loudest sound, and be portable. It took me a few days to decide which one of the few others I should get, and ultimately, I went for the Reacher Super Loud Alarm Clock.

It was the birth of my passion to become a blogger/journalist. From there, I expanded into reviewing and content creation, and JoshiesWorld evolved into not only a news and media company but also a personal identity brand for me as a content creator. Since the beginning of 2007, it has grown significantly and continues to grow, but it wouldn't be possible without the support some of you have given to JoshiesWorld! JoshiesWorld wouldn't still be around if it weren't for your support and the continued motivation that you have given me to continue. JoshiesWorld grows because of your support, including sharing the words about JoshiesWorld, sharing the content published by JoshiesWorld, the donations that some of you have given to JoshiesWorld over the years since JoshiesWorld was founded, and helping to promote JoshiesWorld with merchandise such as stickers, pens, business cards, and more. The Commonwealth of Kentucky and West Virginia weren't the only two states devastated by the floods on February 15th, 2025. Tennessee was hit, too, but not as badly as the Commonwealth of Kentucky and West Virginia. On February 15th, 2025, two counties devastated by the flooding were Pike County, Kentucky, and Mingo County, West Virginia. These two counties are located in eastern Kentucky (the largest county in Kentucky) and southwestern West Virginia. These two neighboring counties are on the border between Kentucky and West Virginia. I am sure many of you are familiar with them because they are very popular and known for the Hatfield-McCoy family feud, and now the best places for ATV/Side by Side/Dirt Bike riders where they are legal to ride on the streets/roads, especially in Williamson, Delbarton, Matewan, and Gilbert in the West Virginia side.

When it comes to Donald Trump, this didn't happen the first time because it happened during his first term as the United States President until we, along with the National Association of the Deaf, filed a lawsuit against President Trump's administration for not providing us Deaf people the accessibility to any information that President Trump, his team, his press, and his administration delivers. This is a repeat, as it's happening in his second term. Any time that President Trump's administration shares information of any kind, they mustn't be only accessible to hearing people with audio but also that they are accessible to Deaf people with American Sign Language interpreters.

Before I start, I will share a video and a screenshot of an example of what Charlie Kirk caused a ramification.
- [To The Victims Of Los Angeles, California Wildfires](https://www.joshiesworld.com/articles/personal/to-the-victims-of-los-angeles-california-wildfires/): My heart and thoughts go out to the victims of the wildfires in Los Angeles, California. Many of the victims lose their homes, some of them homes that they grew up living in and continued to live in. This is not the time nor a place to be political about it. These people are suffering, and we have a few politicians who sneer at them just because California isn't a Republican state. That should not matter; they are human beings affected by it. Both parties should be united for once and help these people affected by California's wildfires. It's not only a saddening thing to see that these people in California's wildfires suffer while politicians like President-elect Donald Trump make silly remarks and spew nonsense words instead of listening to what they need help with and then taking action. For instance, President Joe Biden did that for Texas when a hurricane hit Texas severely. President Biden quickly declared an emergency for that state and sent FEMA down there right away instead of spewing the silly words that President-elect Donald Trump is saying. Donald Trump will be the President of the United States of America whether we like it or not. Still, he needs to be America's president rather than being a President to only a certain group or for himself. He should take a few notes from President Biden's huge book as a politician for decades to be tolerable instead of throwing a tantrum like a bully child. Have empathy, Donald Trump and Republicans!

Have a great feast; it's a great excuse for pigging out, especially if you are on a diet! I am somewhat restricted when it comes to diet. Still, on holiday days, I put my diet striction aside and pig out because how can it not be any better than having a big feast with your family at your family's dinner table or in your living room while laughing! Cherish those memories, treasure them, and have a great time! I hope you get the presents you want or ask for, but they are not more important than spending time with your family because being able to do so is the greatest present itself! If you are legal, enjoy some drinks, but please be safe, especially if you are not driving! The same goes for New Year's Eve because some of you like to party hard on New Year! If you are not legal, drink some grape juice or have rainbow sherbet ice cream mixed with Hawaii Punch, a delicious drink my family and I traditionally have for the New Year! Just get a bucket of Great Value Rainbow Sherbet and a gallon of Hawaiian Punch Fruit Juicy Red, then mix them in a mixer, and you will get a delicious fruity cold drink that will make your hair stand!
- [Fear of Wheelchair Flying](https://www.joshiesworld.com/articles/fear-of-wheelchair-flying/): As some of you may already know, I am not only Deaf, but I also have another disability, and that is I am in a wheelchair, so I am a wheelchair user, which I have been since between an age of 8 and 10, which is over two decades ago. I have written some articles somewhere on here that I mentioned my reason for being a wheelchair user, so some of you might know. Still, for those that don't know, I wasn't in a wheelchair after I was born since I mentioned I became a wheelchair user when I was 8 to 10 years old, but how that happened was that at the age of seven, I broke my femur in half on my right leg which is my strongest leg. I have a few friends who assumed that I am in a wheelchair because I am paralyzed from the waist down, but I am not paralyzed at all, and I can still feel both of my legs; I still can move my legs and whatnot, but after I get out of the hospital which I have spent for about a month I was in physical therapy to get myself back to walk again as I used to until that incident. For some reason, in physical therapy, everything was focused on my right leg, which is the leg where I broke the femur in half. All of that rehabbing goes into that leg with hardly anything for my left leg, so it ended up somehow weakening my left leg while at the same time, my right leg got its strength back and more, but not my left leg, so I could no longer walk at a lengthy distance. Then, I had trouble breathing when I walked and had a very bad spine, which I had surgery for at the age of four from my neck to my tailbone. Yes, there is a long scar from my neck to my tailbone that they cut wide open when I was at the age of three or four. So, with that combination of weakening, my left leg wasn't focused on in my physical therapy as it was focused on my broken (right) leg; I started having oxygen problems (only if I stand or walk). My back, which gets worse as I get older, is what ended me up in a wheelchair for pretty much 3/4 of my life. So, being Deaf isn't the only disability that I have; I am not able to walk or stand if it's more than a minute at best, and that is why I said I am Deaf+ (Deaf Plus, which is what they call it that a person who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing that has other disability).

- [Super Bowl LVIII Halftime fiasco with NAD, ASL performers, and others](https://www.joshiesworld.com/articles/super-bowl-lviii-halftime-fiasco-with-nad-asl-performers-and-others/): So, that continues; deaf people have hassles accessing American Sign Language performers who translate the Super Bowl halftime songs. Now, this year at the Super Bowl was different. I didn't say that in a good way because it was not at all. For many years, we never knew how the National Association of the Deaf picked up who would be doing the Super Bowl halftime. Until this Super Bowl, we finally started questioning the National Association of the Deaf about being transparent on how they go about handpicking who to do the Super Bowl halftime because this one, the Super Bowl LVIII halftime, was NOT accessible at all because they picked the wrong people to translate the Super Bowl halftime songs. The best I have seen so far is none other than Justina Miles. Hands down, she did the American Sign Language translation for Rihanna last year for the Super Bowl halftime, and her signing with her dancing - she was THE queen at it! It seems that the National Association of the Deaf has not put a spotlight on Justina "JTay" Miles for long for some reason; it looks like after that Super Bowl Halftime with Justina Miles, they thanked her and then forgot about her, which is unacceptable because she deserves all kinds of recognization and the spotlight permanently. In my opinion, the NAD treated her very wrong and badly.

Also, what I did and how I did for my diet does not mean it would work for everyone else, as we are different. That is where the trials and errors come in until we know what works and what does not. But here is my diet journey, which was not easy!
- [A tragic day for the Deaf community](https://www.joshiesworld.com/articles/a-tragic-day-for-the-deaf-community/): Four of the eighteen people that Robert Card killed in cold blood with his AR-15 weapon were part of our Deaf community. Four Deaf men were murdered by a man named Robert Card, who was a US Army Reservist, a certified firearms instructor, and had a mentality issue where he said that he was hearing some voices in his head. Robert Card himself had some powerful hearing aids but dismissed that he was hearing through these hearing aids but more so in his head. I'm not sure if his motive was that he was made fun of by his hearing aids, as some people in the Deaf community speculate, but the news said that he recently had a bad breakup. After a few days, Robert Card was on the run, finally found in the river but took his own life and left a suicide note, which the police in Maine refused to reveal the contents of, so the motive is still a mystery. But I am very glad that they have finally found Robert Card, so hopefully that gives the families of these people that he took lives from them peace of mind, knowing that Robert Card has been caught regardless of whether he was still alive or dead.
- [X Is Dying](https://www.joshiesworld.com/articles/technology-and-innovation/x-is-dying/): Threads are thriving, and Twitter/X is dying. This gave me a flashback, remembering what had happened to MySpace. MySpace was founded on August 1, 2003, by Thomas Anderson, who you know as MySpace Tom. MySpace was a giant and number one social media until Justin Timberlake and Specific Media LLC jointly acquired MySpace for about 35 million dollars. From there, it went downhill FAST; Facebook was founded on February 4, 2004, by Mark Zuckerberg as Thefacebook, then a year later, in 2005, it was changed to simply Facebook, then stole the crown from MySpace as the largest social media a few years later. Now, Facebook as a social media is so large that no social media probably can ever take it from Facebook for a very long time - that's if they ever do! Now, with Threads and Twitter/X, that is giving me a deja vu! Back then, the largest photo-sharing service was Flickr, and then Instagram swooped in, taking the crown from Flickr as the largest photo-sharing service. Instagram is owned by who? Meta, under which Mark Zuckerberg founded Facebook due to having many companies, so he founded Meta as a parent company for Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and others. Twitter, one of the large micro-blogging (part of social media) companies, was acquired by Elon Musk for 44 billion (yes, billion, not million!) not too long ago from Jack Dorsey, who founded Twitter.

- [Congratulation Troy Kotsur and CODA](https://www.joshiesworld.com/articles/congratulation-troy-kotsur-and-coda/): I want to congratulate Troy Kotsur for winning the Oscar for Best Supporting actor and congratulate everyone involved in a movie named CODA for winning the Oscars for best picture and best adapted screenplay on March 27th! That wasn't all; Troy Kotsur and CODA have won several awards before winning any awards from the Oscars. They won several SAG awards, such as outstanding performance by an actor in a supporting role in a motion picture (for Troy Kotsur), the best theatrical motion picture. They also won some BAFTA (Almost like Oscars but in British) and many more awards. Troy Kotsur became the second Deaf person to own an Oscar, he is the first Deaf male to win an oscar but the second to win the oscar, and the first Deaf person to win the oscar was none other than Marlee Matlin (along with the first Deaf female to win the Oscar). Marlee Matlin won the Oscar for her movie Children of a Lesser God back in 1987, so the gap for another Deaf actor or actress to win another one is enormous as it has been 35 years, so it was a way overdue, in my opinion. Both of them deserve the Oscars; I am a fan of both even though Marlee Matlin has me blocked on Twitter for some reason but still a big fan of her, and it was time for another one to win the oscar, which I stated that no one in the Deaf community had won an oscar for 35 years until now that oscar went to Troy Kotsur for his role as a Deaf father in a movie named CODA. I will not write anything about the CODA movie because this is not a review article on a film I will be doing later for CODA.

- [Happy Birthday, Dear Mom!](https://www.joshiesworld.com/updates-and-statements/happy-birthday-dear-mom/): Today is nothing more important than my mother because today is her birthday and I want to say happy birthday, my dearest mom! As some of you see, this isn't a usual article because it is not a personal letter from me to my mother, which is the most important in the world or universe to me. Every year, celebrating my mother's birthday is extraordinary; she is still young even though she would deny that, but it is, and she continues to be beautiful as ever. My mom is my entire life; she has done so much for me more than anyone can ever imagine, and it would take a lifetime to give my thanks to my mom because it is countless. She is more than everything; besides being the best mom in the universe, she is also my best friend in the universe. God blessed me her being my mother, she is the best person that God has chosen to be my mother, and I am very blessed to be her son although I am only a child, which is good because so I won't have to share her with anyone (haha!). My mom and I have done so much together, we have gone through so much together, and we will continue doing that for many more years ago whether they would be good or bad. Still, it is important that we both do it together because with her being by my side, we have already come out more than ok thanks to the mother and best friend in her.

As we are going into a new year, we have a new page of 2022 to do something that we learned not to repeat whatever we did in 2021 that was not good or our bad mistakes. Whatever we may have done that was not good for us in 2021 never be cleansed, but in 2022 we have a new slate to do whatever can reflect us in a good way. Sure, whether our 2021 year might reflect us in a good or bad way is something that we can never erase because it has been recorded. Now, how do we want the 2022 record of ourselves to look like? It is entirely in our hands on that one. Speaking of the 2021 record, of whatever we did, whether it is good or bad that reflects who we are, we have a chance to be sure that this new year 2022 is not a repeat.
