Someone has mailed me a few videos of Kappa Gamma fraternity, some personal and some public that has a few well-known Deaf people in it such as Nyle DiMarco. I have a video of two videos that I have put together; they said that it’s from their spring 2011 march and also their final 2011 march with Nyle DiMarco participating in the march as one of the members. The reason I am posting this video is that there is a fiasco with the Gallaudet University and their fraternity Kappa Gamma. Many people have put much of evidence, stories, complaints, and whatnot out there on the internet, so I felt that this video should also be put in there with them so that people can be aware of this. So those people who are outsiders can get an idea of what and how Kappa Gamma looks like at Gallaudet University. Recently Nyle DiMarco has dotted out his name for his comedy series show with Spectrum Originals channel owned by Charter Communications under David Dae Kim’s production company 3AD and Melrose Placed.
It has me wondering if Charter Communications, David Dae Kim’s production company 3AD and Melrose Placed are even aware of what Nyle DiMarco did? Are they aware that Nyle DiMarco is a member of one of the most racist fraternities of any universities, and even more, this fraternity happens to be one of Gallaudet University’s fraternity? What about the KKK-inspired robe that Nyle DiMarco along with others wearing them? No, they are not KKK-inspired, you say! I beg to differ; they have the hood and the cross patch on the side of their arm, which is almost like the one on KKK’s robes.
Here’s a link if you would like to know all about Gallaudet University’s fraternity, Kappa Gamma – Kappa Gamma: The Good, Bad & Ugly co-written by Mary Luetke-Stahlman and Piper Collins at DeafVee.
I think that Nyle DiMarco is one of the others that has the most privileges, at least in the deaf community, which I am also part of; he can say that he earned it. Nyle can say that Nyle DiMarco is Italian, which Nyle is but in contrast to other Deaf BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of colors) and LGBTQ+ – he has it. He hasn’t used his privileges to call out his fraternity for being one of the most racists fraternities out in the United States of America regardless of which university that fraternity is associated with or use them to elevate the BIPOC community. The only closest thing he did for the BIPOC people was to go out in a protestors crowd for a photoshoot and stayed there for a little bit then left, so he was just there to make sure that they acknowledged that he was there so Nyle can say that he did his part. We are in an era (Black Lives Matter) where we should unpack ourselves, recognize what we are doing that are racists and recognize what we are doing that supports the racism systemic so that we can learn from them to better ourselves so that we can do what is right which is to make sure that BIPOC community to get what we as white people have or to stop others from preventing BIPOC people from getting the equal opportunities just as the white people have. So, that way, we can stop the very systemic that we white people built centuries ago, and then this can be equal for everyone.
Nyle DiMarco continues to get more privileges, just as he has dotted his name for his comedy show series, and I wonder when he finally realizes that, or is he too blind by his privileges to recognize that? And again, I wonder how Charter Communications, Daniel Dae Kim’s production company 3AD and Melrose Placed feel that they are enabling Nyle DiMarco to grow his privileges who’s a member of Kappa Gamma fraternity at Gallaudet University? At the same time, continue to ignore that his very own fraternity that he is a member of is racist? With all of these, he is having a comedy show, so how can we take his comedy show seriously, especially we know what he did and what kind of person he is? Now, here is the video so that way this video is out there for everyone to see, and I am only putting this out there as a piece of evidence to support the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) community’s voices. In this video below, you will see two videos put all together, one is their spring march, and one is their final march as they called it in 2011. To see which one is Nyle DiMarco, I have added a note at the bottom of the video (see example at 1:05) to let you know which is Nyle and also I have compiled all of Nyle DiMarco’s parts in this video toward at the end of the video (specifically 13:10).
We as white people need to do what is right, something that we should have done centuries ago and in fact that our white generations shouldn’t even create the systems that oppress the very people that walk among us. As a white person that I am, I am doing everything my part to destroy the racist systematic that my ancestry and their peers have built. It is unacceptable, and it is intolerable which I am doing everything in my power to make sure that our next generations to know it too (I hope others are doing the same). I hope that others do their part in dismantling the racist systematic; otherwise, we continue to be racists that we have been ever since the United States of America was founded. We must do what is right, and it will have to take all of us to do just that for a start. As for Kappa Gamma fraternity at Gallaudet University, Kappa Gamma is only a small thing that supports and enables Gallaudet University to be a racist university as there are other fraternities and sororities at Gallaudet University. The root of racism is at Gallaudet University as a whole. It is up to the current administration at Gallaudet University to do what is wrong. Still, at the same time, the BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of colors) must keep an eyeful watch on them to make sure that they are doing the right thing because if not as a supporter I will continue to stand right behind them because black lives DO matter!
I wish Nyle DiMarco the best with his comedy show; I hope Nyle DiMarco, Gallaudet University, and their Kappa Gamma fraternity do the right thing then continue doing.
