Thought?:
This product is the manual utility knife by Slice, INC, based in San Jose, California of the United States. Slice, INC has several innovative products that specialize in ceramic cutting products and, at the same time, being a charity in giving 1% of global sales to fund autism research. I was browsing around on the internet looking for an envelope slicer or box cutter, and I came across the products made by Slice, INC. Still, I kept resisting to purchase their products because their products sounded too good to be true, especially the fact that their ceramic blades for their products can do cutting just like any metal or other cutting materials. Back in my mind was how ceramic could do the job if it can bend and or it can break, especially if you bend while the metal doesn’t break as you bend it, which you can undo the damage but with ceramic, it is broken for good.
My search for a product continued into several days instead of a quick shopping for a product to do the job that I need, which is to slice an envelope or package. I kept going forward and back to several different products by a different company, but for some reason, my gut kept telling me that one of the Slice, INC. Products are the ones to get that will do the job that I need, but with more benefit to it is that it is safer than a traditional one!
At first, I was looking at a manual mini cutter, but then I thought, I should get a bit bigger than that so that I have a product that can be useful in the future for something that needs a longer blade, so I went to Manual Pen Cutter one. I then decided to take a look at specifications of these products while at the same time reminding me that I need something that has a decent size of blade to do multiple jobs in cutting, and I came across Manual Industrial Knife – Woah! Too long for me, so I need something just in the middle or at least half of that. From there, I stumbled upon the right one, and that is the Slice’s Manual Utility Knife. They have two or three different versions of each product, such as manual, auto-retractable and smart-retracting. I need the manual one because I don’t like to keep my finger on it to keep the blade out, which is retractable ones, which is safer for anyone prone to cutting themselves.
My resistance to purchasing the product was because of one thing, ceramic as for some reason; I kept wondering how it could cut something sturdy and not easily break it. I then decided to give Slice, INC doubt of benefit and purchased the manual utility knife one. When it arrived, I was shocked by how it would slice through package, cardboard, paper, cloth, and other materials. As I looked at it closer, I see that the ceramic blade itself is thick enough not easy to break while at the edge is sharp. Still, at the same time, it can hardly cut a skin while it can cut the materials like tape, cardboard, cloth, vinyl, plastic, paper, foam (even thick ones or multi-layers one), and others. However, there was one thing that I disliked about this specific product, which is a manual utility knife, and that was it came with a rounded blade by default rather than a pointed-tip blade. So, I decided to order a replacement blade from Slice, INC, for a pointed-tip blade and replace it with my rounded blade then, from there, it’s a perfect utility knife because with the pointed-tip blade it can pierce through quickly enough and then cut.
In contrast, with the rounded blade, you would have to do it at a different angle, which can be a bit annoying. Nonetheless, with the rounded or pointed-tip blade, they are capable of slicing! The only difference is if you need it to cut on something flat easily, then that is what rounded blade is for, or if you need something to stab in and then slice, then that is what pointed-tip blade does. The body of the utility knife is a sturdy, durable glass-filled nylon handle, and it is ambidextrous designed, so that is a plus. If you are a left-hander then don’t fear, you can switch the blade to make it a left-hander or a right-hander. This manual utility knife has five positions so you can decide how far the blade you need it to be. The cutting depth for this manual utility knife is 22.2mm, so there is plenty of depth to cut or slice!
I recommend Slice’s products and as well their manual utility knife, but be sure to check all of their products to decide which you need to do the job that you need for. I am rating this based on their manual utility knife (others are smart-retractable or auto-retractable which is same but an increment difference in cutting depth and retractable/manual slider), as is including the rounded blade that came with it by default a 3.9 (with the pointed-tip blade, 4.1), which in other words is very good – so close to great. Just keep in mind that their manual utility knife came with a rounded blade, so if you want a pointed-tip blade, then you would have to buy it separately as a blade replacement (get the blade here).
