There were the warnings going off the hook on Thursday evening in the surroundings of Belfry areas in Pike County in the center of east in the state of Kentucky in United States that were telling everyone who resides in these areas in the Pike County, Ky to be prepared for a huge snowstorm that was coming over from in the morning on Friday to this evening on Saturday and that we would be getting the range in 15 inches to 20 inches of snow as the weather services says so of course this caused a panic to many people to where that they had to make a trip to the grocery store to buy some essentials including foods to be prepared for the snowstorm which they named it the Winter Snowstorm Jonas. In the warnings it said that we would be getting hit with around 30 mile per hours of gust/wind along with heavy snow and that it would very likely to cause power outage which that caused the power provider AEP Kentucky Power to call in additional crewmen for emergency assistance which comes from all over such as the state of Indiana, state of South Carolina, state of Michigan and others to standby for when we have power outage that would be affected from the snowstorm Jonas. As the Thursday disappearing on the horizon with Friday appearing at midnight, just a few hours later in a very early morning we were suddenly under attack of the snowstorm Jonas everywhere including the eastern part of United States and while the clock ticking every hour as the snowstorm Jonas kept on hitting us heavily from Friday morning to Friday evening then they finally eased up but that was just the beginning and a couple of hours later we were under attack once again by snowstorm Jonas until Friday midnight they finally becomes lighter. Then comes this morning on Saturday the snowstorm showed us that our thoughts of them disappeared were wrong as they came back but thankfully this time it was a bit lighter than they were at us on Friday.
As I am typing this article, the snowstorm Jonas is still hitting us but very light though and they will disappear in the evening today on Saturday as the weather has said that they are supposed to end at around 7 o’clock PM.
Luckily there were little to no power outage like the several warnings from the news/weather service threw at us on our computer or our mobile devices said as the snow that we got were dried snow so that means less chance of power outage opposed to wet snow they thought as the wet snow is what sticks on the power line and damage them while the dried snow would be blowing off the power line by the gust/wind. Thankfully there were no major damages in Belfry, Ky surroundings although it made near impossible for anyone to drive anywhere and I am almost certain that it will take at least 2 to 3 days before it would be safe for anyone to drive on the roads because even though the snowstorm Jonas may be over but that does not means all is well as these snows laying outside can be turned into ice due to freezing temperature at night so for anyone to drive on the roads will be risky for at least a couple of days as Monday due to weather it said that we would be getting a bit of sun which that would start melting up although they will still turn into water which can be turned into ice overnight but it would be drivable as long as they are careful.
Nonetheless I will say that — What a snowstorm! I am going to miss them and I hope to see another lasting snowstorm as long as there are no dangers to the power line, because I am very intolerant person when it comes to power outage. Of course I am sure that this isn’t the last snowstorm that we are going to see as there are still a couple or three more months of winter as we always had few snowstorms late and I blame that on climate change.
Thank Crewmen
I would like to thank the power crewmen including out of the state for coming in the state of Kentucky to aid and to standby for any reports of power outage to restore our power so that we all can be kept warm while the crewmen working outside under the freezing snowstorm so that we can be warm. So don’t let them be underappreciated and to thank them you can do so by visiting AEP Kentucky Power Facebook page here which they will be gladly to pass your comments around to all crewmen who go as far as driving several hours from out of state so that we could have our power restored as quick as possible. The power crewmen are not the only ones to appreciate for, the trees crewmen to aid the power crewmen and be sure to appreciate the road crewmen for clearing the path so that the crewmen gets to the damaged power line to restore.
