Thought?:

I was so impressed with all of the reviews that it was made by other reviewers and as well other tech news such as CNET on this Sony WH-1000XM3 headphone so that is what ultimately gotten me to buy the headphone after all of these highly praised reviews. When I got them, I was so hoping that the headphone would be loud enough that I can at least enjoy, they are supposed to be more luxury and a just bit more expensive than Beats headphones which is loud headphones. After several beats headphones I owned, I had a very high expectation and also hope for Sony’s latest headphones that everyone is raving about.

Now, the very important for me out of headphones is loudness, bass, and treble because they are what I rely on heavily since I am Deaf (technically hard of hearing) but I can hear if they are loud enough (think beats headphone). So, in other words, I need audiophile headphones because these headphones I would be able to hear but unfortunately, this Sony WH-1000XM3 isn’t. If you are expecting and hoping that Sony WH-1000XM3 to outperform headphones such as Beats or other audiophile headphones – don’t.

Because your hope will be brought down greatly and you may be left to wonder why they are being raved by the reviewers. Of course, everyone has their preference just as I do and this disappoints me so much especially after hearing how reviewers were praising them as if they are the best of them all. I got news, they aren’t and isn’t even close to being the best. The worst about this headphone is the sound, that is what will be the most disappointing thing about it but the rest of the others are just average. Comfortable? They are somewhat, I will say that they are more comfortable than the beats and have a better design too. I have a lot of problems with Beats headphones and they outperform this headphone should tell you something that there is something wrong with this headphone especially when it comes to the sound (at least on loudness level).

What can save this Sony WH-1000XM3 headphone? The features. Wow, they sure got the features that will not disappoint you. They are wireless, can be wired too if needed but they are wireless headphone and they can last up to 30 hours continuously. When you run out of the battery, it will only take you three hours to recharge right back to 30 hours of continuous use! Their connectivity? Eh, average. I struggled with trying to connect to my iPhone (iPhone 8 Plus) and they don’t immediately pick it up. After a few attempts of reconnecting, it would finally connect and start playing the audio of whatever it is that you want from your device like the iPhone. Noise-cancelling? Yeah, yeah. The crown is on them for this, they got noise-canceling nailed and if you are looking for noise-canceling headphones then look no further. Not only that, but they also have an app that you can use with your WH-1000XM3 headphone where you can adjust the depth of noise-canceling, audio levels, balance and whatnot which is another thing that can save them. The headphone has touch controls on one side where you can swipe to play, pause/stop, mute by covering with your hand and volume control so that is another cool feature!

The bottom line, are they the best that the reviewers claimed? No, not even close. This is not only me but also I let my friends and even my mother try the headphone which they struggled with it as well. The most common answers I’ve gotten from them? Too low of sound coming out of them, which I already explained that there is no loudness in this headphone like you would get from headphones such as beats or other audiophile headphones. Being a luxury headphone, I think they should be able to make it loud, louder than beats and make it truly audiophile but they did not. Would I recommend it? That depends. Do you want bass, loudness and great treble? Not. Do you want noise-canceling and awesome features at the same time you sacrifice the audiophile/loud/bass sounds? Do. If it wasn’t for features, they’d lose a star which this would be rated two. I sent it back and was refunded for it.
