YouTubers Are Audism?!

Who doesn’t use YouTube in their daily lives to watch some latest videos of their favorite YouTubers and watch some old videos on YouTube that they have watched them before or they are YouTubers who have their own channels that they uploads videos on regular basis to earn money?! I don’t know anyone who doesn’t use YouTube whether that they are just using YouTube to watch some videos or some have their own YouTube channels that they upload videos on regular basis to earn some money if they are partnered YouTubers. YouTube have over a billion users with mix of watchers and YouTubers, everyday users watch hundreds of millions of hours on YouTube and generate billions of views which is unbelievable. So that gives you an idea of how many people who watches videos on YouTube uploaded by YouTubers and these top ten YouTubers who generates millions of views each day, each videos they have uploaded to YouTube which earns them millions to billions annually. I am myself partnered YouTuber but I am not even close to being the top ten YouTubers, I am practically the bottom partnered YouTubers and a few reasons for that but I will talk about that later. Now what they don’t realize is that these over a billion users or millions viewers that the top YouTubers watches some of the top YouTubers videos is NOT one type of audience as there are a few different types of viewers or subscribers that they have. What I am saying is that the top YouTubers need to realize that some of their subscribers who is Deaf, Hard of Hearing or blind audiences.

Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Blind is very similar when it comes to needing some assistance for watching videos on YouTube and that is closed captions. Deaf or Hard of Hearing subscribers or viewers rely on closed captions to feel connected with any YouTubers and by doing so that also provide transcriptions for the blind subscribers or viewers too because they need transcriptions to give their videos closed captioning.

Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Blind combined audience is considerably large so these views that they generated, each view they generate for each video gives them money because they uses advertisements for their videos via Google Adsense. Top YouTubers have repeatedly say that what is matters is that they provide good contents or story and nothing else matters such as what gears they uses to make these contents but what they have forgotten is that Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Blind will NOT know if any of their contents are good or sucks because they have no clue what is going on with their videos hence the closed caption/transcription for each of their video(s). Imagine you watch a video on YouTube without any sound, have your headphones or speakers muted and there you may understand that their contents they created have become moot because without closed captions or transcriptions we cannot know what the content is all about or story is about in each videos they have uploaded to their YouTube channels.

YouTubers Get With The Program!

As the heading says, YouTubers get with the program by starting to provide closed captions for your Deaf or Hard of Hearing audience and transcriptions for your blind audience. By making closed captions for your Deaf or Hard of Hearing audience would by then turns into transcriptions that you can provide for your blind audience. Doing this will help you to get us to subscribe to your channels and not only that it will helps you to earn more money for our views on your monetized videos. As for myself, I am hard of hearing and as for the Deaf community we have fought very hard with several television industry or networks such as TV channels to have them to start providing closed captions so that we can for once of all be able to watch while at the same time being able to feel connected or understand what the story or contents is all about.

Some of the top YouTubers and some of the YouTubers that knows what they are doing such as PewDiePie, Unbox Therapy, ShayTards, iJustine and more. I think I can safely say that as being part of the Deaf community, I ask you to please start providing closed captions for your videos on your YouTube channels. While I am not blind therefore I cannot really speak for the Blind community but I think that they would greatly appreciate that you will provide transcriptions which is made from closed captions anyway so you shoot two birds with one stone.

How?

If you are wondering how to start, by starting to add closed captions to your YouTube channel or where to start. No problem as I am more than happy to help you. There are a few services that you can use to start providing closed captions, they have services that will do translation for you by paying a dollar per minute or if you prefer to do so at free then that is even better because that would be more authentic that way especially to make your videos more original without having anyone to do something for you. Here is the resources that you can start with.

A translation service for YouTube specifically, a well-known and trusted service by millions: Rev.com/caption

Or if you prefer to do it yourself, great move and to make this even easier for you there is a service that allow you to create closed captions live so you type as the video goes. What is even better is that they have shortcut buttons where it allows you to stop video so that way you can take a break from typing for closed captions or shortcut for other tools. This service is also well-known, trusted by millions and a leading service for DIY closed captions generator: Amara.org

Amara is a crowdsourcing service for closed captions so if you don’t feel like doing the closed captions for yourself then you can have a community to do so for you. The best feature it has is that it does auto-save so that way there wouldn’t be any loss.

Great Advice for YouTubers!

Thanks to Rikki Poynter, a well-known and fast-growing YouTuber who happens to be Deaf for sharing some tips for the top YouTubers. She is very involved with YouTube as she have visited VidCon while being on disabilities panel, she also has been a featured YouTuber at VidCon for disabilities too and not only that Google even have invited her to work with Google about closed captions or to help them to have a better understanding for the Deaf community I believe. So I suggest that you watch a couple of her videos and she is very welcoming so if you have any questions on how to make your videos better for Deaf/Hard of Hearing audience then have a talk with her! I am of course very welcoming too, as I am partnered YouTuber as well and I am Hard of Hearing myself but I don’t do videos like her as I am more of a blogger or journalist. But maybe in the future I may become more active partnered YouTuber once YouTube have made things easier for the people with disabilities that includes Deaf or Hard of Hearing and Blind for the blind people. For now please watch a couple of her videos below:

She have a few more videos about closed captions on her YouTube channel and she’s a subscribe-worthy. 😀 Here is her YouTube channel URL: https://www.youtube.com/user/rikkipoynter

Seriously PewDiePie, Unbox Therapy, ShayTards, iJustine, RomanAtwood (Smile More? Hmm… I’ll leave it at that) and few of others awesome YouTubers please from on now start providing closed captions for your videos on your YouTube channels. It would be even better if you have start adding closed captions to your older videos as well and that would just means you may get more subscribers or viewers that increases your daily funds in your Google Adsense stats. 😉

My YouTube Channel

As I have mentioned that I am the bottom partnered YouTuber, although I have joined since the year of 2007 and didn’t get serious until a couple or three years ago but then I lost the motivation because I don’t have the gears that I need such as Canon 5D Mark III DLSR and other equipment. I try to get back to it since I have GoPro Hero4 Black Edition and GoPro Hero4 Session which is somewhat a budget for the cameras but not as good as the Canon 5D Mark III DSLR that I dreams of owning or better since I cannot afford it but maybe in the future if I can ever get lucky being able to afford the DSLR. I started off with intention of showing people my daily lives, through my eyes and some vlogs in American Sign Language because that is the only language that I can communicate as I am hard of hearing (hardly, just about Deaf). Any donation for the Canon 5D Mark III, help this n00b YouTuber to make his dream to come true and become a decent or so YouTuber?! Haha. 😀 Nonetheless my YouTube channel is YouTube.com/JoshiesWorld and feel free to subscribe if you’d like. I try to be as much as active I can for YouTube, I think the only reason that I don’t do as much as other YouTubers is because it’s the fear of being attacked due to only being able to say anything is in American Sign Language and that’s the fear that I have to overcome eventually. In future once I get the gears that I need for YouTube videos then I will try my best to be more active so that I can earn more income and to hire a voice-over so that I can give contents to everybody regardless what their backgrounds are. GoPro Hero4 Black Edition and GoPro Hero4 Session doesn’t cut it as they are only great for adventures or point of view so I’d need Canon 5D Mark III DLSR for quality contents.

Popular YouTubers Uses Closed Captions

Edited (8/15/2016) – I have decided that I will start adding any popular YouTubers that provide closed captions for Deaf and Hard of Hearing audiences that allows them to take the pleasure in watching their videos so to feel connected with what’s going with the story in their contents (videos) so I will be listing the YouTube channels as I come across any. If you know who is popular YouTubers that allows closed captions and I missed any in this list below then please leave a comment below to let me know who so that I can take a look and verify that they do provide closed captions for the Deaf audience. If I am to verify, it cannot be just one or two videos with closed captions out of several and it has to be majority of the videos or at least several latest videos if they are YouTubers who have been around before YouTube starts allowing closed captions on their videos. If you are YouTuber, becoming popular with 50,000 or more subscriptions, please provide closed captions and if you don’t know how to do so please take a look above as I have provided a tip on how to get closed captions for your videos as a few options to do so!

Majority of YouTubers videos that provides closed captions

Thank you so much for taking so much of your time and all of your efforts in providing closed captions for over a million of your Deaf and Hard of Hearing audience worldwide! This means that you are not audism.

Some or every now and then latest YouTubers videos that provides closed captions

Tsk tsk. You aren’t giving much of your efforts in providing closed captions for your videos to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing audience. They are over a million potential subscribers worldwide and you aren’t being fair as all they asks for is equal access that everybody else has the voice for the audience who is able to hear and the closed captions for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing audience able to connect with your contents. Imagine any videos with no sounds and couldn’t feel any connection to the story? Well you get the idea.

PewDiePie, Good Mythical Morning, Unbox Therapy, TechSmartt, Rclbeauty101

Thank you for reading this article, I will be passing this article around to the people who I have mentioned although I doubt that they will read this article but if you personally know them then you can try to get them to read this article because it is very important that they do as there are over three hundred thousands Deaf or Hard of Hearing in United States alone and millions worldwide so imagine these views they’d be getting from us or the increases in their income each month on the 15th.
